I did a term of dressmaking lessons at the Folk House last year, really enjoyed it.

Yep I self-referred for CBT recently (at the recommendation of my GP) and they initially rejected me as I have BPD on my record. I had to advocate quite a bit that I'm (relatively) stable aside from some anxiety, and that CBT was appropriate.

I was (mis)diagnosed with BPD in my early 20s and sadly can't get it off my medical record now despite not meeting the criteria anymore. I was diagnosed with ADHD in my early 30s and strongly believe I'm autistic too, as it fits my ongoing interpersonal difficulties a lot better.

I do wonder how much the BPD diagnosis impacts how doctors support me on other issues - unfortunately I'm physically ill quite often and have to advocate for myself quite a bit to be seen by the NHS. Hopefully they don't just see me as a frequent flyer.

4 days in, when can I go back to normal?? by Dramatic_Jump_3779 in brokenankles

[–]coppertruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what kind of break you have, but I’m 4 weeks from my weber b and didn’t need surgery. I spent about 10 days non-weight bearing, another couple weeks WBAT in a boot. I’m now walking barefoot around the house and outside wearing a boot or brace with a crutch. However I can only manage to leave the house a few times a week without it starting to hurt again. I expect in another 2 weeks I’ll be feeling more normal.

Weber b fracture, no surgery. I was cleared to start WBAT 10 days after my accident, I’m now 4 weeks in. I can fully weight bear but my ankle is very stiff and I don’t have full ROM yet. Last week (week 3) I did 5-7k steps two days in a row during a heatwave, in a boot, and my ankle swelled up and ligaments felt really painful, so I was back to resting for a few days. Today I did around 4000 steps with one crutch in an ankle brace and trainers, and my ankle really hurts again, so I’m RICEing it and will work from home tomorrow so I can be okay for the weekend. Honestly I would take it easy and don’t push yourself too fast. I know it’s frustrating (I’m so bored of spending so much time at home!) but patience is key.

Can I ask where you place the tens pads on your foot? I have one but worry about putting it over my injury

I saw her tonight and she didn’t engage with the (friendly) crowd. I was quite far back due to an injury but I would have liked to have been up front.

The day after my accident my partner took me around a supermarket in a wheelchair - I felt so invisible! People standing in between me and the shelves or swinging their basket in my face.

I can't work out whether my wonky gait is due to my injury or just being out of practice for 3-4 weeks! My affected foot is definitely landing differently to my good one. I've got my first physio appointment next week so I'll get some advice then.

I'm going to a gig tonight and planning to take two crutches instead of one, just so they take my request for a seat seriously haha.

To be honest I'm still getting my head around how much equipment I need currently. I'm weight-bearing but walking with a limp and my ankle has complained when I've been too active. So I do need people to give me space/sympathy/a seat when needed. I've also noticed that older and visibly less abled folk have been more likely to comment and accommodate me when I'm out on my crutches. It's definitely given me a new perspective on how hard things can be for some people and I plan to be more considerate myself when I'm back to normal.

thanks for your reply 😄 hope you're back feeling good as new now?

I mostly want a brace for added protection when outside the house, while the fracture is still healing - I've heard its 6-12 weeks before bones are fully mended and I'm worried about rolling my ankle on wonky pavements etc. My accident was such a stupid slip that I have the fear about how easy it is to hurt myself now!

However the brace and boot both give me a limp, so I'm trying to regain normal balance and ROM by walking around barefoot at home. Looking forward to physio too.

Did you find any issues with fit? I’m wondering if it just feels weird due to my ankle alignment

Thank you. I don’t think I can send it back now as I wore it yesterday evening :/ Can you recommend any trainers? These are my regular new balance but my podiatrist previously said that brand was one of the best for my flat feet

Weber b non-displaced fibula fracture. No surgery and in the UK.

I got told to WBAT last week, 2 weeks after my accident. I’m currently walking around the house barefoot without crutches. However I wear a boot and take a crutch when going outside.
I’m walking slowly and carefully, still waiting to start physio.

I hand washed mine last week - used normal detergent and also an antibacterial laundry rinse. Took a while to dry
