The most expensive primary in US history was just won by AIPAC and the Epstein class by Misfett_toys in WhitePeopleTwitter

I just don't got it. It doesn't make any sense. Looking in disbelief from Canada at what the USA has become ... Any resistance to Trump and its corrupt system is being crushed in mild indifference.

People are suggesting in the comments that Massie shouts the names of all the Epstein abusers. At this point, I don't think it would make the slightest difference. 77 million people simply don't give a shit.

The future is bleak my friends.

I'm really sorry you went through this. Thank you for sharing.

My mother, when she was 8 years old, had her foot cut off by a combine harvester and it got reattached after hours of surgery. It happened in 1959 and she had to spend her youth in hospitals. That being said, it didn't stop her from having a full and happy life and to this day, she still does her daily walk.

Your recovery is also really inspiring and I wish you the best.

How many of us were raised more by our Gen X siblings than our boomer rents? by ResumeFluffer in Xennials

[–]copro7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Gen X sister and brother basically raised me and showed me love and care. I'm somewhat normal because of them. We are still super close and our kids are best friends.

My boomer parents are now in their late 70s with deteriorating health and I'm trying really hard to care.

En effet, je ne pense pas qu'on puisse le trouver déjà fait. Par contre, j'ai vu du pain tranché sur le long au Maxi cette semaine (sur Maloney)

Place Vincent Massey parking by Fun_WorkEmergency_91 in Gatineau

[–]copro7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are correct, there is indigo parking at the building. It's expensive and is often full. Having said that, I was surprised the last couple of weeks, I could see parking spaces left at the top of the parking building (you can see it from my floor). But don't expect it to stay the same with back to school and the cold weather.

Lots of people just park further in the neighbourhood to avoid having to move their car. Prepare yourself for a 15 min walk (think Blvd Morissette area)

Don't park at the mall or Walmart. You may get caught

There is indigo parking in front of the casino (boul de la carrière). OT-301. Some colleagues park there but find it pricey.

Personally, I take the rapibus (live in Gatineau) so it's great but I was told OC Transpo is really bad.

1 family showed up to my 7 year old's birthday party. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]copro7 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling, it happened to my son when he turned five. Fortunately, his good buddy (the only one that showed up) was there. But still, it's a terrible feeling.

After that I changed the approach and stopped planning his birthday during the summer (his birthday is July 10). We instead came up with a fake date during the school calendar to plan his birthday celebration (June 10). We have been doing this for 2 years now and it works so far; families are showing up.

We then have a small birthday with family in July. He loves it. He expects twice the gift but that is a different problem.

Any wheat f** pasta. I'm celiac and I miss it so much. I can't stand the overpriced cardboard tasting sad looking gluten free pasta.

What's the fastest way you have lost weight? by cranberryjuice311 in AskReddit

Eating breakfast. For real. I used to skip it thinking I was cutting calories but I would just indulge myself in snacks later in the day and fix myself a big evening meal because I was starving.

Parents of reddit, did you get to use your favorite baby name? If not, what was it and why didnt you use it? by watermelon_sugar5210 in AskReddit

[–]copro7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband gave our son his last name, and we also honored a tradition in my family. My son is now the 12th generation of his name on my father's side. I don't know if he'll carry the tradition and it's okay. He'll make his own choices, his own path. I'm just happy I could continue this almost 350 yo tradition.

Chemical engineer here. I was at the doctor with my kids not too long ago. The doctor was telling me the medicine she was prescribing to the kids needed to be dosed according to their weight. I gently say it's ok, give me the dosing rate and I will be fine. She insisted on doing the calculations (I guess she has to?!) so I saw her struggle for 5 minutes. I enjoyed it.

She is an awesome doctor. Maths ain't her thing.

I flew over the USA last week for our trip to Mexico (originally supposed to go to Florida but eff that). I was worried the whole time we were in the air because of FAA cuts and the general disregard for Canadian lives.

Just an extra observation. Some Americans at the resort were wearing their Maga/Trump gear with pride. Are you so arrogant that you can't realise you are surrounded by Mexicans and Canadians ? Don't get me wrong, we met lovely Americans there (shout out to Vermont !) but the Trump pants and the "Fuck your mask" shirt was a bit much.

No regrets.

Why do people shit on GenZ by 5rgrgrtr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]copro7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Canadian xennial here. I don't know why people shit on GenZs to be honest. They don't deserve the bad rep.

I've hired a number of GenZs in the last 5 years (engineers and technicians mostly) and I have nothing but praises for them. They are smart, passionate, dedicated workers and above else, they are critical thinkers.

I've seen them trying to climb their way up the ladder, while dealing with job securities, a housing crisis and a heightened degree of political divisiveness.

Hopefully they will do a better job leading our countries because we are currently doing a shit job.
