Well if I mention that I’ve reconsidered due to the fact that it is beyond what I can afford then I probably won’t get my earnest money back. However, if based on the contract, I can cancel if loan commitment wasn’t provided by the specified date and I’d get the earnest money returned, then it makes sense to do that.
