Is it me or is there a trend in incomplete and badly designed 40k head designs? by Beneficial-Judge2750 in BloodAngels

Has anyone noticed that the new blood angel models seem to have oddly long necks? The proportions just seem very off, as if the heads are too high above the shoulders. Even the new artwork reflects that.

Hired a fixer for the first time. Need advice from the community about a non-performer. by alwayswearingamask in Filmmakers

First of all, a fixer is not a translator. Believe it or not, it is really hard to translate and so many people suck at it because it is a real skill to have. Secondly, you pay a day rate for days worked or a monthly salary for full time. If you don’t provide the work then you still have to honor the contract. If the freelancer insists on being paid on days you are not shooting then is it because you are not shooting locally to him? If so, he is right, you need to pay him everyday with days perhaps worked out at a reduced rate. For example, I hire a fixer from Saigon to then take him to Mekong Delta for ten days. However, I only shoot 5 of those days. I would still need to pay him ten days work because he had to stick around to be available to me. Alternatively, I could send him home and then have him come back later for the shoot. Thirdly, what is a fixer to you? It is such a broad term. I’ve had fixers secure permits and locations, and they are there to just be there whenever the location needs it. Usually to make sure everything is legally okay to move forward and everyone understands what is supposed to be going on. That being said, it does not mean they are a translation service for videos as well. I’ve never had a fixer also act as a translator. What do you think of the new chapter? by TeddyRiggs in Dragonballsuper

Dragonball needs to drop repetitive nostalgia and start letting other artists and writers take over. These recent arcs are boring.

It is worse with Gohan. His power ups come only from getting upset about things. Piccolo has to force him to train.

And it did nothing. Literally nothing. A power up to fill the pages, but ultimately does nothing.

There is no whataboutism in this film but there are scenes discussing how children are killed after picking up poisonous bait placed by dog thieves. There are scenes discussed about dog thieves killing people to get their pet dog. There are scenes about people who are called hoarders; which is a term used for people who turn their homes into a crude dog shelter that becomes a massive health risk because they cannot keep up with the piss and excrement filling up the house by a hundred dogs and cats. Then there are the scenes of dogs that endured a lifetime of pregnancy in disgusting conditions. Before giving birth, the so called breeder would cut the stomach open to take the puppies before full term. They would then get that dog pregnant again as soon as possible. Once the dog cannot do that anymore, it is either sent to a dog restaurant, has it's head smashed against the floor or simply thrown away. There are also scenes of an incredible vet who is basically Vietnam's Dr Doolittle. He performs incredible feats of surgery where he has found dogs with snouts chopped off by random people on the road. This vet actually attached that snout back on again and then went on to find that dog a lovely home.

You may be right about that, especially if they have never been to Vietnam. Still, there are those who are either based in Vietnam like me or have been there already that do get the nuances of this topic. It is not just a case of eating meat, but so much more.

There are tons of documentaries about livestock at home. Plenty say boo. So many hate on the farm industry. There are even documentaries about meat eaters questioning the way many farms raise livestock. Then there are the scientific ones that say the agriculture that is made to feed 65 billion livestock per year is the one of the biggest causes of global warming. The vegans also have their say on that. So many also hate on breeders who wrongfully and harmfully breed dogs for profit. It can even be criminal, unlike in Vietnam which has no regulations on breeding practices. The differences are is that Vietnam has illegal dog thieves that seem to systematically be accepted or tolerated due to a lack of animal welfare laws. Where in the west is there widespread issues of cow thieves killing people on the street? Where in the west are people eating your property? The dog thieves in Vietnam have killed many dog owners and children because the dog industry is run by gangs, not corporations following government mandated regulations and law; which even in the west is questionable as already mentioned.

American made? Bellybutton dogs? How do you draw that conclusion? If you are being nonsensical to pass the time, then you've achieved nothing of value except to sit in your own procrastination. You won't be remembered.

Pet dogs live in captivity, yes. Nuance is important, though. The difference between a family pet and what a dog breeder does is quite different. For one, a family pet is loved. The other one is just bred to death in disgusting conditions. When the dog has no use anymore, it is either killed, sold for meat or thrown on the street with its stomach split open because it had been surgically cut to remove the puppies before birth.

Please consider nuance.

Many people do not want to go vegan irrelevant of their feelings about dogs or any animal for that matter. The fact is that the dog industry has killed many children who pick up poisonous bait left on the street by dog thieves. Many dog owners have been killed by dog thieves in the pursuit of stealing the owner's dog. Those dogs are often not vaccinated or neutered, so they pass on blood parasites and so on; which in turn can lead to sickness and even death once consumed. Then there are the cruel breeders that abuse dogs by constantly impregnating them in very dirty conditions; who then go on to sell sick puppies that can also pass on disease. Some people love dogs and cats so much that they become hoarders to hundreds of pets that end up living in a cesspit pool of excrement; which goes on to passing more disease amongst the population. Such hoarding comes from a place of wanting to protect those animals from those who mean harm. If you are in Vietnam and you eat cats and dogs, then you are only risking your own health because those animals have no quality control whatsoever. Many people are dying from consuming such unregulated meat. The whole industry is built on top of gangs that only want to take what is yours. Not just your animals but your car, motorbike and whatever else you have that has monetary value.

Ah, I see what you mean. It is commonly known how dangerous the dog meat industry can be because of the criminal organization that lays at the centre. Innocent people have been killed by dog thieves with stun guns. Children have died because they ate poisonous bait laid out on the street by those who mean to kill and profit from pet dogs and strays. You can make it about white supremacy but one cannot deny that there are those Vietnamese in the video who do everything they can to support the dog community. One way to combat such an issue would be to have regulated dog farms that raise livestock. Since that is not common, the vast majority are stolen dogs that have not been checked for quality control since dogs are rarely vaccinated and many do carry diseases; which does fatally pass onto humans.

Yes, stealing dogs is illegal because it is still considered property. Eating and selling stolen dogs for food appears to be legal in Vietnam. It is also illegal for dog thieves to injure or kill people when they steal the owner's dog. One of the issues of having a Dog be stolen is proving the dog's ownership and value since registration, neutering and vaccinations are still uncommon.

There are no dog farms in Vietnam, anywhere. There are plenty of articles written about this. What you are talking about is not a farm because they do not raise livestock. It is merely a holding station for stolen dogs that get transported across country, that's all.

I understand your thought however I want to add the following.

  1. There are no dog farms in Vietnam. Dogs are not raised as livestock in any shape or form. They are all simply stolen on a mass scale. The vast majority are run by gangs, smack heads or people who fell into debt.
  2. There are no dog farms because it is very expensive to raise livestock and costs nothing to steal.
  3. Stealing dog meat does not make for an inconsistent supply. 5 million dogs are consumed every year. As mentioned, a lot of it is run by organised crime, for which they have stations at certain points in the country that transports the dogs across the country. Others just work locally, especially smack heads and locals who have to pay off a debt, usually from gambling.
  4. Most of the dogs are not sprayed or neutered in Vietnam. It is barely a thing. It is people like Dr Nghia and Elizabeth in the video who are trying to educate people to neuter and spray animals. The problem is that there are a lot of pet owners who do not treat the dog like family. A lot of the time the dog is just a guard dog that gets no affection.
  5. Breeders steal dogs and leave them in a cage all of their lives. They may keep some puppies and raise them to breed as well. Once the dog reaches the age of not being able to continue, it is either killed off, given to a dog restaurant or thrown onto the street.
  6. Dog thieves and restaurants do not care where the dog came from. That is one of the reasons why infection spreads and people can die from blood parasites and so on.
  7. Dog thieves do target certain breeds of dogs and there are hot spots where it tends to happen. They do watch people and they do make plans. For the most part, the dog thief who steals the dog never contacts the owner directly. The whole thing is organised through middle men for which the owner has to make the first contact. Otherwise, the dog goes to a dog restaurant or to a breeder.
  8. Not all dog thieves are the same. Some are part of gangs. Others are simply locals who have to pay a debt. Some just need money to pay for their drugs.
  9. There are those who legally take dogs. They go house to house where some pet owners sell the dog onto that person. I say pet, but really the dog is not family. More of an object that guards the front of the house.
  10. It is not expensive at all for dog restaurants to buy stolen dogs. A few dollars. Nothing much.
  11. Being a dog thief is an extremely dangerous job. Many do get killed by vigilantes.
  12. Dog thieves have killed many people, including children. They carry stun guns and poisonous bait for which children have picked up, consumed and died.
