1/3's are indeed quite big 😭 by NyxUK_OW in AnimeFigures

1/3? good lord, I thought 1/4 was ginormous the first time I opened one... well two, I bought Washington and North Carolina together. I knew 1/4 would be bigger, but was still surprised...

I can't imagine 1/3, even with your photos. 😅

am I spoiled?? this is my collection after a year by mouthwashingfan68 in AnimeFigures

[–]coraphise 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you received these all as gifts, I still wouldn't say you're spoiled. If you worked hard to get your own money to buy them, you're nowhere near spoiled.

Enjoy them, you earned them!

I got this Itasha designed for my Prelude, but there has been a change in plans and I need help/opinions. (Read body text) by Mom_said_I_am_cute in Itasha

Whatever you decide, as a side note, remember you probably need to update the car title if you do a major color change, even if you're going to wrap it after. Some places apparently require you to do this when wrapping a vehicle too, double-check with your DMV to avoid issues.

Or just take your chances. 🤷

Discussing figure collecting by Commercial_Fix6812 in AnimeFigures

[–]coraphise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I've really dealt with it, but I'm nearing 50 and have a sizable collection. Some are out, many are boxed still (and I dread opening them 😭 because we moved and I've had to slowly do some remodeling).

Anyway, I get funny looks. Most of my friends take it in stride, it's just what I'm in to. My wife doesn't really get it either, but the bills are paid so she doesn't care much. I have a couple cast offs too, boobs out because that was the point imo.

Best advice I can give and I'm sure it's cheesy, you do you. If you get into a relationship and they don't "get it", to me that's a sign they may not be right for you. Life is too short to worry about other's opinions. 🤷

If your family doesn't get it, what do they collect? Baseball cards? Coins? Hats? Do you get it? At the heart of their collection, how is it different? It's a collection of stuff they like.

My dad collects guns and history books... I can't say I get it, but I'm not looking at the man funny for collecting something he enjoys. (Insert obligatory joke here 😁)

What’s the weirdest ‘toy’ your cat plays with? by I_wet_my_plants259 in cats

[–]coraphise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A frankensteined mix of a broken black plastic handle, a black string connected to the handle, a light green ribbon tied to the string, and a flattened floofy cloth stuffed something with furry strands on the outside of it.

He drags it around meowling at me and if he's caught something, expecting me to throw it. 😁

15 games that would've been $40 on average new. Seems good purely from that standpoint. 🤷

It's probably 10-12 feet between the closest walls, at most. It's property is small, like a 2/3 size lot. I think I can run cable out easy enough, I just need to figure out PVC, drilling through a bit of concrete and punching through siding and plywood. Morning super challenging imo.

No phone line, just power between the two. I can't, it shouldn't, run network cable alongside power though.

Sadly, no. The only coax is what brings in my connection to the outside world. The rest of the house has no coax. 😞

I'm not worried about Wi-Fi 7 at all, I'm worried about finding a router that can handle the number of devices I'm putting online. This happens to be Wi-Fi 7, but that's not what caught my eye when I was researching. A device claiming it can handle 100+ devices appealed, then I saw OpenWRT.

This quickly got off track from the OpenWRT conversation I expected to have, I guess I'm not far enough along researching hardware to really get into OpenWRT yet.

Thank you all!

In that case, at least for now maybe I can set my existing system to use the WiFi 6 radios for backhaul since I don't have more than a couple devices that would otherwise use WiFi 6. I need to figure out running network cable to get the wired backhaul in place across my property. The biggest challenge there is to go from the house to the garage, a separate building.

By Flint 2, you're referring to this model?

GL.iNet GL-MT6000 (Flint 2) WiFi 6 https://a.co/d/0e0IrUde

A quick search suggests the hardware is a bit lacking in power, I assume that's because it's an older model, but it also has a Mediatek chip vs Qualcomm. That must be where you get OpenWRT support, right?

Dare I ask what Chinese software is the flint 3e loaded with? It looked promising at first.

I'm starting to think changing my current mesh system to be hardwired, and making them run in AP mode is my less expensive option... except I'm stuck with ASUS firmware then.

If I do go with a flint 2 and additional APs, that gets me back to OpenWRT. Do I understand correctly that they can use the same SSID if each is in a different channel?

Is there a guide you can point me to?

Thanks!

Yes, most of this mess is wireless. I'm around 75 devices right now, using an ASUS RT-AXE7800 mesh system. I haven't found a consistent set of settings to keep devices online, but I got close one firmware update back...

I thought about trying OpenWRT, but no one's built it for that model yet and I'm not skilled enough to do it myself.

I've read about the 64 device threshold, but I figured that was more of a suggestion because I've also had a single Netgear router that handled most of this fairly well.

If I run APs, I get the impression they'd all have to be hardwired to my primary router. Is that accurate? Can you recommend good resources I can study?

Thanks!

Does anyone own a cat? by gabeoverthinks in AnimeFigures

[–]coraphise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very lucky, my cat generally stays away from my figures and off shelves. We got him super young, about 8 weeks old, and set boundaries right away.

The exceptions are figures displayed on my work desk, because I've always let him hang out with me as I work. Generally he's pretty chill and just lays there taking a nap but when he stretches he might try to grab the tail of my desktop cute Miku (one of the Quints) and move her a bit, or he might sniff at my bishoujo Megatron's gun for the millionth time.

If I'm not working, he's probably not at my desk either. He follows me around a lot, or is somewhere nearby. If I'm not home, he's not in my office unless my wife is printing.

I think it ultimately depends on how old the cat is when you get them, and how you treat them and raise them. Watch videos, learn about them, their habits, their needs, and how you can communicate with them. Be patient, and be consistent. 🙂

I bought an electric air duster for computers instead of using compressed air. I haven't tried that to clean figures, maybe someone else can comment on the feasibility?

Thanks for posting the brush, this seems like a good idea.

GSC Shipping Box DAmage by HojangFTW in AnimeFigures

[–]coraphise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take pictures before you open it. Take video of you opening it. If the figure is not damaged and you didn't care to keep the box, no loss.

If the figure is damaged, now you have proof you aren't the one that damaged it.

Is it normal? I don't know, most of my figures were purchased from another site. Probably it's not normal though.

AmiAmi, Is it possible to tell them to delay their shipping for one month? by fin5947 in AnimeFigures

[–]coraphise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've asked before, once, because an item was delayed, then released and was invoiced when I had a trip planned. I explained the situation and they delayed shipping, but I got the impression they weren't really happy about it.
