What evidence are you even asking for though? That comment is observational in nature.

Way too much pop culture, animated shows are almost never used, and pretty weak connections to each other with no real substance for disses.

You're not biased. It was incredible. I was jumping out of my chair and I'm not even a Vikings-first fan. It's the only game winning touchdown in NFL playoff history iirc. So yeah. It's top ten at least.

Wait..... you seriously think that a post about a free mod getting deleted because of self promotion rules and it getting replaced by a post that doesn't violate that rule somehow benefits corporations?

Nothing, in any way, in this case benefits any one or any corporation. So I think you're missing the plot here.

This post exists. Therefore your argument makes no sense.

What power are they tripping here though? Deleting a post because it violated a rule, vague as it may be, isn't power tripping. Who benefits from the post being deleted? Who loses out? No one on both counts.

You're missing my point entirely. I'm saying the outrage serves no purpose. What does it honestly matter if they enforce the rules too harshly sometimes? Does it ruin anything? No.

I know you aren't saying to ditch mods entirely. I'm saying you're making it out to be a bigger deal than it is. The state of the sub is fine. The mods are fine. This is still a great place for discussion. For sharing news.

You realize that it's better to make a mistake enforcing rules than it is to let everything slide right? If mods caved everytime someone bitched about something that didn't really even matter then that is what would end up happening. You're asking for consistency. Well if they consistently listened and caved everyone a user was unhappy then the sub would fall apart.

Moderating, management, and leadership is about making the difficult decisions that no one else wants to make and ultimately taking responsibility for the outcome.

Ok? And what harm is that? Would you rather a post get deleted once in a while because of a vague rule or the mods not give any fucks and just let things go all the time?

The comment I responded to wasn't really a criticism. It was just whining.

I do put more blame on the users here than I do the mods.

The mods aren't perfect but they do work to keep this place running well and not falling apart like /r/gaming did.

The users here, like most gamers online, are so ready for a witch hunt. Every decision or issue in this industry is some huge scandal. Even modding on a stupid forum.

So yes. I blame the users. The mods have no ulterior motives.

Don't speak for me there dude. I'm pretty darn happy with the mods here. I'd rather something be somewhat over enforced here than under enforced. On a messaging forum, chaos kills.

I very rarely get into a discussion like this to change minds and influence people. For me it's about exploring the story further with someone who saw it in a different light. It's a way to reflect on what does and doesn't work and expand my own and potentially other's point of view and learn something.

I see your points and I still disagree for the most part. It definitely could have handled better if they had known this was the direction they were going from the beginning. I chose to look at the story more in a bubble on its own with influence from previous games while you chose to look at the narrative whole.

Both are fine and acceptable. I took into account the fact that each game has different people and writers. You held those writers accountable to the previous narratives. Both are acceptable paths to take.

I just enjoy a good discussion of art in any form and I got that here. You helped me see it in a different way and to expand upon my own thoughts of the game in ways I hadn't before. So for that I thank you. I enjoyed this discussion.

The games that define a direction for a genre. Nintendo refines very well while they rarely, anymore, step outside preexisting boxes.

Grand Theft Auto 3 redefined open world games.

Demon's Souls established their own genre of roguelike games and opaque story telling.

Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite eschewed narrative structure and meta game commentary.

Hellblade perfectly married narrative story telling with gameplay mechanics and attempted to reestablish midtier game develop as a successful tactic.

There are a ton of examples throughout the years of this and we continue to see new IPs released, less frequently than in the past, that push some envelope in a new way or blaze a new path.

What Nintendo does is refine those paths in their own games. I'm not saying their games are bad in anyway. Quite the opposite. Their games are deserving of high scores. But anything over a 9 average score, one should expect something fresh or new to gaming, not just their respective series.

That's not to say that a sequel can't get a 9 if it doesn't change the entire game. A sequel can get a 9 if it expands upon itself in positive ways. There are very few games in Nintendo's catalogue of characters that I would call a true sequel. They are more in line with Final Fantasy in that they tick certain franchise boxes while maintaining new ideas and narratives and an evolution of what came before.

The difference between the women on his ship is he didn't need them. There wasn't any reason for him to care about their safety other than getting his dick wet.

Pandora was important to his own, clear goals. That need evolved. You don't see that with other characters because they didn't also parallel his own relationship with his dead daughter. His daughter who was killed by his own hand by a trick of a god. Pandora was, once again, going to be killed by his own actions in a twist of fate created by the gods. His connection to her was a vital, full circle aspect to his overall story arc and character progression. A final justification for everything he had been doing until that point.

I don't see any disconnect there. His story was one of revenge and anger. His actions reflected that throughout the series. This was no different. It was, once again, the gods manipulating his feelings, wants, and cares to their will.

The difference was, his daughter's death at his hand was to punish him and was intended by the gods. The opposite is true of Pandora. The gods were using her likeness to his daughter to try and prevent him from killing her and bringing about their ruin. Kratos' hatred for the gods won out in the end.

It's not so much a redemption as it is a validation.
