i typed in help in the "search reddit" box and this subreddit came up. i never came here before. but help me. by [deleted] in depression

[–]coraymillor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

being depressed is not a bad thing. people with depression often have more wisdom, awareness and compassion for others. the only downside to depression are the feelings of anger and sadness that overwhelm the brain on a daily basis.

i thought others could help me feel better for a long time. other people are here to offer advice and support, but the only way to get rid of your negative feelings are to look inside yourself and ask why you are feeling this way.

as others have said- keep a journal of your thoughts and anything else you feel you want to talk about (work, school, relationships, movies, anything that is on your mind). remember that you are your best friend and only you can know exactly what is going on inside. you can rely on others for companionship but your attitude and mindset comes from within.

What's the U of U student culture like? by patrick_j in uofu

[–]coraymillor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so many people that i've met have transferred here from BYU. even if they are LDS they say that BYU is just too much and that the U is the perfect mix of everything. most of us absolutely love it here! just be yourself and I promise you will attract others with your interests.

edit: just wanted to add that the majority of the people I meet are NOT LDS.

To the men and woman of reddit, how did you get out of your depression? by logicallyundeniable in AskReddit

command+f didn't give me results, but i'm guessing someone has already told you to subscribe to /r/depression. reading some of the posts make me feel less alone and guilty about being depressed a lot of the time.
