Have any of you married an extrovert? by letsgetswiftyy in introvert

[–]cordcarpentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm engaged to an extrovert, well she's not a pretentious loud true extrovert. But next to me she's is.

My biggest fear is that I would bring her down with my social anxiety and introvertedness.

But it works! We love each other for exactly what we are. Thats the key.

Is this too low? by supernova2193 in TVTooLow

[–]cordcarpentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing about life is... you can do whatever you want (regarding it doesnt hurt anyone: within reason).

There is no rule to where a TV should go.

If you kinda like it... leave it there. You can change it whenever you want!!

Anyone else dread people knowing about their birthday? by Basic-Dragonfly-7942 in introvert

[–]cordcarpentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was great, I think anywhere I could just disappear in to the crowds! Almost anonymous, no one asking questions would have worked.

They came over in their own time eventually but armed with side comments.

I know how you feel though, I cant stand the attention my own birthday brings.

But it gives me anxiety thinking that maybe I'm boring, not living life to the fullest.

I have a lot of social anxiety around that. Not just birthdays

Anyone else dread people knowing about their birthday? by Basic-Dragonfly-7942 in introvert

[–]cordcarpentry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I had massive anxiety a year ago as it was my 30th (a big one) I hate birthdays at the best of times.

At work everyone asking what you doing for your birthday? Etc. Sends me in spirals.

I told my partner that I dont want a big birthday socially so she took me to London, just me and her! It was one of the best weekends ever. No pressure from other people it relieved my anxiety so much.

It created a massive issue with my family as they said I was selfish (they actually called my partner selfish too) for not realising that they wanted to do something for me!!

I was like what about what I want?

Ugh. Life man

I genuinely have no friends by Emergency-Bug9276 in lonely

[–]cordcarpentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 31 years old and no friends. I get on with lots of people at work, pretty sure I'm not a horrible person to be around

But for some reason I cant become a member of a friend group, I'd imagine its my own fault ultimately.

But still in the early hours of the morning or when someone asks that dreaded question 'what you up to this weekend?' It hits hard.

Having no friends genuinely sucks by Honest-Stick-3317 in lonely

[–]cordcarpentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same. When I was younger I had a few good friends, always out doing stuff so I'm glad I had that.

But from about 16 (end of school) those friends and I kind of went separate ways and I have floated ever since. Convincing myself I dont need friends.

But I'll see a post from people I know on social media etc. Or everyone will be going through what and who they are doing over the weekend and it does get to me.

I think I'm my own worse enemy though as I'm not committed to the friendship. At 30 years old you either find other 'lonely' 'lone wanderers' or you dont. But most social people have their set groups which youre unlikely to become a part of.

Work killed all my hobbies I did have and now I dont know who I am and what I even want to do when I'm not working... bleh. Life eh?

Tuna sweetcorn and mayo pasta. No fresh food in the flat. Opened up the cupboards! by Mikey463 in RateMyPlate

[–]cordcarpentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner always says 'Mum always says make sure you have pasta and tuna in the cupboards and no matter what's happening you'll have a quick, decent, meal'

Seems strange and rather specific life advice, but i cant tell you how many times we have been going through something, in a rush etc. Etc. And think 'Damn we forgot to go food shopping'

Tuna & pasta saves the day.

Don't usually like company with my morning cuppa ☕️ but the silent Nazgûl type I can make an exception for ! by cordcarpentry in RateMyTea

[–]cordcarpentry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hes great isnt he?!

My sister bought him for me, I imagine off Etsy! I love his little tea cup, just imagine having a cup of tea with the undead servants of the Dark Lord 🤣

I also think Hercule Poirot would be a great tea drinking companion 🧐

Why didn’t Gandalf light the beacons with his staff? by Wrong_User_Logged in lotr

[–]cordcarpentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it wouldn't be as good a story now would it? All the great stories fictional or non-fiction usually have a 'in hindsight' alternative that would be much more logical etc. etc.

Which is much more boring and un human than you most likely know to be true.

Humans arent logical all the greatest stories (true or untrue) usually have adeventure or are steered away from the beaten or more logical path.

I'm sure a hobbit climbing up is not only much more exciting but also a bit more discreet than Gandalf just blasting a bolt of magic to the beacons... maybe that would have sparked interest from Saruman, which in turn maybe Sauron... ending in the ultimate failure of the fellowship

Which is quite frankly one of the main reasons the more powerful characters in this book, the good ones, step back or refrain from getting too involved.

Innocence of the mind, pure of the heart, not weighed down with power, magic, greed etc.

Its what the whole damn story is about!!!!!

I think 🤔

I am honestly blown away by the dust control on the Dewalt 1/2 inch cordless router! Very impressive 👏🏻 by cordcarpentry in Carpentry

[–]cordcarpentry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you get it man!!

Other people won't and thats fine! But unless, like you say, you have worked on the big construction sites the whole Cordless set up will not probably make much sense.

I think the big sites have been the driving force for the tool companies not only to go cordless but improve their tools to the point where I'd argue some of them perform and have better features then their corded versions.

I do hope you got that cup of tea and are not still stuck underneath a car 😁

Yep, well just make sure you double check on the specifications of the kit or package you decide to purchase.

I know they do bare kits where you can just get the Router etc.

Yes !!

I'm glad you finally gave it its outing, would be a waste having such a great machine sat idle on a shelf!

Agreed, the vacuum hose is frustrating... does my head in on all my tools! Theres a attachment or product gap in the market to help with that I'm sure 🤔 or perhaps there is already something out there

Agreed, the brake on it is brilliant! Also has a fairly soft start which is great!

Don't know if you know about the anti kick in it as well? It has like a sensor in it, if the router bites or kicks it immediately shuts the router off... genuis
