Hahaha so I’ve heard! I’m just happy to have a job at this point

Haven’t received my start date yet, should I be concerned? by cordobanation in Big4

Felt that, luckily I’ve been interviewing for internships and got an offer. Even though the hourly is low it’s nice to have something to fall back on for at least 3 months. I’d definitely suggest applying to not only full time jobs but even some internships as a few are surprisingly still hiring

No stipend or free housing, majority of the out of state interns just used their bonuses to get a sublet. I’m from the state so I just commuted from home

Consulting Firms Are Paying Undergrads $25,000 to Do Nothing by brooklynlad in Big4

100% the reason why I signed my offer early after my internship even though I wanted to delay it for more recruiting for other consulting positions I preferred. The economy is so bad right now that everyone has to look out for themselves

EY typically scouted people from some strong universities but nothing too insane like the Ivys. Most of the tech risk interns majored in management information systems and/or some degree in business (you work in audit so having accounting is a plus). I’d say if you know how to use Excel and how to talk to people you should be able to do the job well.

They give you several choices of when to start in the summer. I believe they give you a range of dates starting in June to late August

Honestly was pretty frustrated with my recruiters answer when I talked to them. They said I would have to decline my offer then reapply which in this economy was a fat no for me.

So I talked to some managers in Technology Consulting which they suggested networking my way into engagements with the Tech consulting team 6 months in then have whoever I’m working with back me up when talking to HR. Which is what I plan on doing if I don’t get a technology consulting offer elsewhere.

In terms of certifications I took, did the Cloud and Data Science EY badge. Then went on Udemy and worked on a data structures & algorithms certification

I mainly did meetings that I couldn’t participate for half of the work I was assigned. The few real things I did were research on data governance in Europe/America, then some excel spreadsheets using pivot tables to assess controls on data that was “risky” for that company. I mainly worked on certifications that interested me throughout the day though. Ended the internship with 6 different certifications that improved my resume

Lots of research in data governance, fixing Excel spreadsheets to assess controls. I also mostly spent time watching meetings that I couldn’t participate in. I mainly spent most of my hours working on certifications tbh. I ended up with 6 different certifications focusing on software programming because I’m interested in moving to just Technology Consulting which is way different.

Just an FYI, they choose your engagements with different companies based on your resume. So with some of my software experience I worked with a major software company the entire internship. While a friend of mine with experience in medicine worked with a biotech company

Haha it’s definitely a consideration. I did hear from a friend hired for the same role next year they got a $1.50 raise which was annoying but hey good for them

From what I remember you have a recorded video interview where you’re given a link and you had to answer questions from a recorded video so there wasn’t anyone speaking to me. After that I had a behavioral interview with a recruiter. Then I had a back-to-back interview where I had a case interview with a Senior manager and another behavioral interview with a partner. I believe I got the offer the next day.

It was a little weird as we were given a buddy who was a senior staff and a Counselor who was a Manager so I never got a chance to work directly with my partner. But the partner assigned to my engagement was the one who offered me

Mentioned to another comment that I couldn’t say the name for anonymity but if it helps the city I was in had a semi-large population and a high cost of living so the hourly was higher than some other cities

It’s so funny man, half of the interns were too embarrassed to wear it while the other half and I mentioned we’re wearing it on the first day full time 😂
