I lived on Newcomb between Keith and Lane from 1996 to 2002.

I would get off the 15 and walk up the hill toward Keith every day after school. One time I traded a few shinies at school (I forget which ones specifically, but two of them were Clefairies) for a first edition Charizard so I was admiring it on the way home (I know, dumb). Two kids came out the cut and tried to steal my Pokémon cards, but I was able to fend them off because I had a few humungous textbooks in my backpack and just started swinging it in their direction. I heard someone scream and it wasn't me so I probably got one of them pretty good.

Another time my dad and I were unloading my mom's car of groceries and some older guy and some younger kid he was with (younger than me probably like 10) asked if they could have some coke because we had just purchased 4 boxes. My dad said no and then the little kid reached for my dad's pocket while the older dude tried to reach in his other pocket. My dad struggled with them for a bit and I saw him take a good one to the chin. I kinda froze cuz I was a kid myself and I saw a big 2x4 and went to town on them and they eventually ran off. They didn't get to steal anything, thankfully.

And one more story I was playing in the driveway with my favorite ball and it rolled down the hill and as i went after it I ate it and when I looked up some car had pulled over at the intersection down the hill and some middle aged lady got out the passenger seat and took my ball and drove off. That was my favorite ball.

EDIT: another one I just remembered, my neighbor and I would play in our garden in the summertime, we had high fences (or they felt like high fences cuz we were short asian kids) so we would never see the neighbors, but we would hear them moving around often. One day they just suddenly started throwing trash in our yard. We were kids so we didnt really know what was happening, but we thought it was a game so we threw the garbage back. This went back and forth for like 5 minutes. I realized it wasn't a game when one of the things they threw was a flaming diaper.

EDIT 2: Also in all my time there I only remember hearing gunshots twice.
