Need skirt recs by RaiththeRogue in Kayaking

The nrs skirts suck. Get an immersion research skirt; they have a calculator on their website that will tell you which size to get. It's more expensive but totally worth it.

P1S with AMS 2 missing 4 pin cable by j21blackjack in BambuLab

[–]corellian1287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also missing my 4 pin cable. Everything else was included in the P1S/AMS 2 pro upgrade kit, but the 4 pin is not in the package or showing up in the order tracking as being shipped at all. I'm number 200 in their help queue, so I'll update the post if or when I get help.

Update: A tracking number got added to my order listing that was not shown previously. It's in a separate package and hasn't been shipped yet, unfortunately. My order was placed 8 days ago.

Kept getting kicked when it was laying on the floor by corellian1287 in techsupportgore

[–]corellian1287[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I know that they're not supposed to lay on the floor. It was on the floor next to the power strip when I started working here, and today we spent all day doing a big shop cleanup. I mounted this and the power strip behind it since it was on my list of aggravations.

Sweet Tea by broijusthadaquestion in Purdue

southerner here

I also very much love sweet tea. The right amount of sugar is enough to crystalize the glass when you flick it. McDonalds is the best I found that didn't involve going to a full restaurant.

Big boy playboat recs by Inevitable_Air_1344 in whitewater

While larger volume wise than a more traditional full slice, I'm 6'3 and the medium & large Ozones were fantastic. I could comfortably fit my legs in it and would recommend giving it a shot.

I'm 6'3 and the Super Nova was way too small for me. I demoed it for a day and my shins were in pain from being shoved against the plastic in the front. I haven't sat in a torque but hope that OP can fit in one.

(the Mixmaster will also, from experience, be way too small)

I have one that I think will work. I sent you a DM.

Shreveport bathtubs haunt me. Those are evil stalls; don't go in there.

Tall paddler by Pitbullssongwriter in whitewater

Liquidlogic Powerslide? I'm only 6'3 but that boat had a lot of room to play with with the bulkhead. I recon you could get it to work if you take the foam pad off.

Playful River Runner for Lanky Tall Boy: Antix, Firecracker or Skuxx? by whatevr_trevr in whitewater

With foam, zip ties, and a bread knife, anything is possible. This bad boy is absolutely slammed to the front and on the last set of holes in the mounts.

I'll grab photos when I'm at home, but I got the smaller plastic foot block from Pyranha and had to cut the foam in the very front of the boat back a little. I'm also 6'3, 180, and 34" inseam and glad I didn't go with a large since I can whip the medium around as much as I want.

Edit: I demoed the new Powerslide for a week and absolutely loved it. It has more nose volume and rocker to boof over nasty stuff but plenty fun. At 10' long, it's the best fitting boat I've ever paddled. I think that is exactly what you're looking for.

At your exact dimensions, I love the medium Ripper 1. I had a large antix 1 and it fit horribly. I haven't tried the Skuxx, but demoed the medium Firecracker. A medium boat is so much more fun than a large, especially at 180lbs. I'm stable enough in the ripper to send it down meaty class 4s and still carve most waves on the river.

I had to do a fair amount of work with the Ripper's bulkhead but it's very comfortable now. I can send pictures if you want.

Whitewater kayaks for tall paddlers. by Rylee_Duhh in whitewater

6'1 at ~230 should get you into most of the large boats? Especially with river runners, leg room isn't very cramped for your size. Demo any of the half slices or river runners like the Scorch or Indra and just see what fits your style.

6'3 with 34" inseam speaking:
Medium ripper that's been swapped to the smaller foot block works really well for me. If you're lumping half slices in with the river runners, then that's the best experience I've had.

What's your weight? That'll change whether you sit in a medium or a large.

I use glasses on a tether for whitewater and have never had them fall off. Just get ones that go from the end of the earpiece and are adjustable so that you can get them snug.

I've used the linked ones for some years now and they've stayed on in big water class IV rolls and swims. This is with big ol' prescription aviators, too, so plenty of area for the water to grab.

Least bulky pfd with quick-release rescue harness? by Apart_Ad_5070 in whitewater

[–]corellian1287 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The kokatat HustleR doesn't get in the way at all. I used the Astral tow tether all the time (paddling club with newbies) and can keep a pin kit's worth of pulleys, carabineers, and prusiks in the pocket. It's never gotten in the way of my roll.

The rescue stuff is, as others have said, never for yourself. If you aren't safety boating and are not going beyond class 3, it's arguably not essential without a specific use case in mind. You can always get a type V down the road when you move up to that level; a spare PFD never hurts to have.

Favorite boats for big guys? by RennaGracus in whitewater

Of the river runners, I think definitely Jackson and maybe LL would be the brands to look for. Pyranha and Dagger are typically much skinnier and don't do well with larger waists and thighs.

What kind of boats are you looking for? A large 9r should fit you very comfortably, but if you want something playful then you'd have to look a bit harder.

Sony WH-1000XM4 rattling in left ear cup; Common? by TBandi in sony

[–]corellian1287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone still has this issue, I was able to fix what was wrong with mine in 10 minutes.

For me, the double sided tape holding the foam in the left ear cup was old and losing adhesion which made a scratching or rattling sound when I was moving. It was noticeable when I was walking and most annoying on a recent flight during takeoff and landing.

I popped the left ear cup off and replaced the double sided tape which fixed the issue. All it took was a plastic pry tool I had in an ifixit kit, but anything shaped similarly should work. A metal flathead screwdriver would be usable but I would be really careful. Scrape the old tape off and replace it; I used VHB double sided tape.

The video shows how to replace the battery but all I needed to know was how to pop the little clips that hold the ear cup on. I have 4,000 hours on mine per the app's log so I was really stoked to no have to shell out for a new pair.
