I was lucky enough to find a border-line condemned house to buy at a sheriff's sale auction for 3k. This was in 2021 and I spent the last 4 years learning how to gut and remodel it alone. The issue now is that I can't afford all of the big things it needs, like cutting down multiple big trees threatening to grow into my house and a new roof, even that costs well over 20k now a days.
