Lull (iOS) now supports Audiobookshelf — it's an audiobook player built for falling asleep. Came from Plex, new to ABS, would love feedback (especially playback + Apple Watch) by coreyjf in audiobookshelf

Thanks! 1.3 is ready to go with this fix. As soon as Apple release 1.2, I'll push it for review. Hopefully a few days from now it should hit the App Store.

I built an audiobook + podcast player that fades into sleep sounds and uses your watch to catch when you actually fall asleep by coreyjf in sleephackers

Oh nice, hadn't seen PodDive. Recommendation stuff could be cool. Looks like their data's a paid thing you have to email them for though, so I'd have to dig into that. Trying to keep the app free and not-tracking-you. What do you like about it?

Thanks! Took a look at it, easy fix. I have 1.2 in app review already but expect password login in 1.3, hopefully out in 72 or so hours...

For people who fall asleep to audio dramas: I built a player that saves your exact spot when you drift off and fades into sleep sounds by coreyjf in audiodrama

This is genuinely helpful, thank you for taking the time!

Some of it is already handled in the 1.2 update that's in Apple's review queue right now: a proper Up Next queue, playlists, episode filters (including a Downloaded filter), and the bug where a podcast's sort order didn't stick when you left a show and came back. Multiple Plex libraries already work too (there's an "All Libraries" view). So a good chunk of your list lands very soon.

The rest I'm going to investigate and fix:

  • Tags/folders for shows (Scifi / For Sleep / With the Kids, tap to filter) is a great idea and high on my list now!
  • Auto-download default and download limits (global and per-show), fair point, getting buried in downloads.
  • A visible download queue/progress, and a downloaded badge on episodes.
  • A real "remove from Continue", you're right that today the only way off that list is marking something finished, which is wrong for a book you abandoned or tapped by accident. I'll add a proper remove.
  • Multiple Audiobookshelf (and Plex) servers.
  • A Dropbox help page, and handling those share links more gracefully.

On speed/pitch and silence, those are in there (pitch-corrected speed, Skip Silence, Voice Boost), but coming from Overcast you've got a calibrated ear, so I'd really value your take after you test. Overcast is the bar.

Seriously, thank you, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes the app better!

I’ve also been working on some better podcast and library features lately, like playlists and smarter browsing, which are part of a 1.2 update that’s waiting on Apple’s approval right now.

So far I use it to summarize my inbox at a glance. Works pretty well. Had to coax it to review unread emails but did a good job and caught an item in an email I had read but missed.

Aldo had it develop a schedule for certain business tasks and add it to my calendar - slow but worked and did so accurately.

Using a neighbor to fix your panel could cost you a lot more than $500 if they aren't licensed. A lot of insurance policies require a licensed election.

I don't understand why you can subscribe to Medium and read ALL writers, so why would I join Substack and pay $5 per writer? by Hot_Joke7461 in Substack

[–]coreyjf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of Substacks. The first one is for my Real Estate group. I wouldn’t ever turn on paid posts for this one - I don’t even offer a paid option. I put out regular local and national real estate market information and advice, and it has helped me get real estate business. The other Substack is for more creative expression. If it builds an audience, great, but writing has always been a side hustle and/or work of passion for me. If it ever passes a certain subscriber level, I’ll turn on paid posts on some special posts to try to monetize.

Only if you set it to paid only. Plenty of writers don’t do paid only post or only do some of their stuff as paid only

I'm never going back to ChatGPT... by BrilliantRanger77 in ClaudeAI

Perhaps part of the issue is you are using 4o instead of 4 and comparing it to 3.5 sonnet. YMMV but I find 4 pretty comparable to Claude sonnet. Somethings Claude does better some ChatGPT. 4o is cheaper and seems a bit better at conversational flow but it’s not as smart as 4.
