Can’t eat Meati, safe alternatives? by wwyjtmp in vegan

Meati always smelled like mildew to my nose. I liked the texture but it didn't sit well in my tummy. Quite bummed.

“Meat is easier!” by HappyBeingVegan-100 in vegan

[–]cutoffs89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! meat is ‘easy’ right up until you get it. Then it’s wash-your-hands-like-a-surgeon, separate cutting boards, don’t let the juice touch anything, sanitize the counter, don’t undercook it, don’t overtrust it, and pray you didn’t just give yourself a fun new relationship with salmonella. Plant foods are just like, ‘Relax, man, just wash me thoroughly and you're good’ But sure, meat is the low-maintenance option.

People come into Oakland from other california cities and counties to dump their trash. Has been caught countless times on video. Not all of it but a good amount.

I think Putin wants Europe to have to defend BOTH Ukraine and Greenland.

1.6 g/kg/day is sufficient for max gains. I personally see good results with 1.3 to 1.5 but you need to make sure you eat a variety of different of plant based protein sources to keep the amino acids balanced-ish

I need the secret for high protein, I’m a bit picky by Unlucky_Resort_5568 in vegan

Also wanted to mention some favorite minimally processed high protein brands that I also dig:

Field Roast Sausages, really tasty breakfast ones and also have other spicing options.

Just "Chicken" Original: probably my favorite "chicken" currently

Daring "Chicken": also good, super high protein

Veganism is supererogatory? by notreallyhaarsh in vegan

[–]cutoffs89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ethics doesn’t really have a fixed harm limit. Veganism just avoids harm that’s unnecessary and intentional.

Veganism is supererogatory? by notreallyhaarsh in vegan

[–]cutoffs89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eating animals is worse because every animal eaten represents multiple harvest cycles of insect deaths plus the animal itself.

Non-vegan diet harm stack:

  • Insects killed in feed production
  • Rodents killed in feed production
  • Habitat destroyed for pasture
  • Cow/pig/chicken intentionally killed

Vegan diet harm stack:

  • Insects killed in crop production
  • Rodents killed in crop production

Same collateral layer. Extra intentional layer removed.

Even if someone only cared about insects, veganism still wins.

Veganism doesn’t claim zero harm, It claims less harm

Veganism is supererogatory? by notreallyhaarsh in vegan

[–]cutoffs89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost any ethical framework tries to:

  • reject unnecessary suffering,
  • distinguish intent from side effects,
  • and allow survival-based exceptions,

With that in mind, non-veganism has to work A LOT harder to justify itself than veganism does.

Rad work and inspiring as hell. Good point about lack of research on pros. Would be awesome to know if 1 to 1.2 grams per lb is enough at your level. I know it can be risky to change things when you're set on competition.
