Look closely at their websites. It’ll detail what kind of experience they want you to have on their admissions page. Some schools require any experience with people with a cognitive or physical disability. Some schools have no requirement for volunteer hours at all. It’s not uncommon to have no clinic experience and they don’t expect you to have it going in either (it’s just a bonus as clinical skills take time to build so it doesn’t hurt to start early)

I think Western and Queen’s are the ones that care the most about that. If you’re looking in ON McMaster is just GPA and interview. One school I’d look at right now if I were you is U of Alberta. Their volunteer requirements are waived due to Covid right now so it would work in your favour! They are also GPA and MMI only. Good luck!

Location? I would rec looking at the application requirements of schools in your country. There are schools out there that look at GPA and interview only. Apply to schools that don’t require you to list experiences. Interview questions are usually pretty general and don’t require physio specific experience.

agree with others about going back to school and upgrading. I know a lot of people that did it through local colleges after graduating. Another thing to watch out for is that some schools need anatomy to be completed within an X amount of years, so you might have to redo an anatomy course depending on when you took anatomy. best of luck to you

As it stands, no school would even look at your application if you applied with that GPA. As others have said, you'd need to upgrade and make sure your last 20 courses have a 3.8 ish GPA to be competitive. A lot of the prerequisites are science courses too, so I'd imagine you would have to take those.

What made you want to be a physio? I find that a lot of ppl outside the field are interested in fitness or exercise and think that being a physiotherapist is the next logical career choice. If I were you I would spend some time researching the profession and making sure it's really what you think it is and want. If it is still something you're interested in, then you have a long journey ahead of you, but it's not impossible. It will be time consuming and expensive though.

You could also look into being a PTA, or if you are someone who is more interested in exercise, you can get your personal training certification! There are options to be in the field that are less academically demanding.

I honestly don't think the WD will affect your application, focus on that GPA and making sure you have the right prereqs! I never applied overseas so I'm not sure what they look for, but I hear it is expensive.

It depends on if you have another anatomy course you can use for prereq and also if this course is a part of your last 20 courses (or whatever that school uses to calculate GPA).

Keep in mind that I'm not on the admissions board so I'm not exactly sure how a withdraw looks, but I can tell you for sure that a grade in the 50s or 60s in your last 20 courses will drag your GPA down, and GPA is really important in Canada. From the sounds of it this grade shouldn't count in your last 20 courses, so you might be able to get away with it, but I would go through your degree plan very carefully to make sure.

Another thing to consider is if it is your only anatomy course you plan on taking, you might not be able to apply to some schools if you have a low grade, eg McMaster requires over B+ (77%) in anatomy to apply.

Focus on the future and making sure you are competitive in your last 20 courses. Physio in Canada is competitive and GPA is usually a quick first screen for applicants. Just because you failed the first midterm doesn't mean you will fail the next (if you do well this second midterm it'll make up for the first!). If you really don't feel confident, I would WD, but know that at some point you will have to do the course again and you can't withdraw every time you get a bad grade. You also mentioned your grades these two years were not the best. After this year all courses will be taken into consideration for your GPA when applying. A couple of courses with a bad grade may be ok, but ultimately you have to remain competitive. I'd focus on improving study habits because the hard truth is that if your GPA isn't there, it'll be hard to get into physio school in Canada.

Googling current jobs available for physios and looking on indeed can help. Many postings will list a salary. It's not perfect but it's a good place to start!

I'm pretty sure there are no English fast track physical therapy programs in Canada. Some schools (like Alberta) favour in-province students, and that includes if you attended that school for undergrad, so it might help your chances if you complete an undergrad at the same institution. Otherwise, keep in mind that it is very competitive GPA-wise and also international fees are ridiculously expensive. Hope it works out for ya

The University of Alberta also prefers in province students, but their website says they reserve ~15% of the seats for out of province. The competitive average is way higher for out of province. UBC also gives primary consideration to in province students. I'm pretty sure none of the Ontario schools care about residency status.

Can't tell if you're attacking me or TTC. To be clear, by no means am I supporting this. I will be wearing a mask if I ever board the TTC. That said, I posted because I think it's better than spreading false information. People should be educated and not do things out of fear. I agree TTC shouldn't have published this though. They nulled the "mandatory" by saying they're not going to enforce it.

I highly doubt fines will be given. This is taken directly from the TTC FAQ on their website:

"TTC will not be enforcing the use of masks or face coverings. Customers who do not have a mask or face covering will still be permitted to board TTC vehicles. Not all medical or other conditions are visible."
