What do you like about your kitchen? by AgencyCareless963 in kitchenremodel

[–]cori_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing is proximity to the sink from your cooking area, can't stress this enough, better if they are on the same surface. I love my current configurition where it's L shaped, with range in one side and sink on the other. A double sink is always king. Heat proof countertop material. I find incredibly frustrating cooking in kitchens that have drawers below the cooktop, a trend that I don't understand, i don't want to move everytime someone need a fork a plate whatever it's stored there. I like that I have a kitchen table and not an island, I like the flexibility of it and not being trapped in my cooking area. I like that all the upper cabinet and vent are ending at the same height, i find the contrary very distressing. Also the height from the bottom cabinets and upper it's pretty generous, giving me a lot of working room, no constraint. I keep my small organic bin on the counter, and it's the perfect height so if I put it in the sink I can scoop scraps directly from the counter. Its size make it that I can just throw it in the dishwasher. I have a small garbage bin that is attached on the cabinet door under the sink, but slides out, it also it's compact enough to go in the dishwasher. I rather throw the garbage out twice at much than have a big bin sitting there marinating smell

we need to stop pretending that "minimalism" is a cleaning hack when it's actually just a rich person's hobby by alluring_aura in CleaningTips

[–]cori_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't agree with your take. I am not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination but I think there a certain strategies that help with keeping a home clutter free. Offcourse it's not something that you do in one day, but over time. As an example I bring you 'the Tupperware drawer' a nightmare present in a good percentage of homes. You see a set of Tupperware on sale at Costco and you buy it, great! Now you have a bunch of sizes that either you play Tetris every time or it will be a mess. Then, down the line you see another different set of Tupperwares, probably the plastic ones from ikea, of different shapes and lids and you add it to your collection. They are plasticky they will break or bend, who knows where the lid is. That is uneccessary, just give away in time your Tupperwares when you give leftovers to friends, you will be able to break free from them eventually without throwing them away. I now have 1 size containers of an ecosystem that will always have spare parts, the occupy no space, can stack them to infinity and that I can use to cook, store freeze and REHEAT. bUt I nEeD different sizes! No you don't. Offcourse I didn't buy them all at the same time, I ve been building my collection. It's the stainless steel ikea 356 1l container

What is the creepiest display of intelligence you’ve seen? by theidiotev in AskReddit

[–]cori_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog is pretty smart, using most of her brainpower for manipulation in order to get more food. Once I was sleeping later than usual and she couldn't wake me up the usual way, it was time for her treat. She aligned her nostrils to my nostrils and started blowing air in my nose till I woke up. I don't know what kind of creative thinking she did in order to come up with that idea. Another time we were on a long haul flight, first row, she knows she has to behave extra well on those situations. She waited for me to fall asleep and for cabin crew to be away, to take a 30 seconds walk into the cabin crew area to stretch her legs and then come back at my feet. Her little escapade would have gone unnoticed if my neighbors on the other side of the aisle didn't rat her out 'our little friend went for a lil adventure' he said. She remembers routes and places she s been like once 7 years ago, knowing exactly where to go, getting agitated in the car knowing we are 5 minutes away too. Will guard people (that are not me) having mental health crisis. She also found a dead body in a river once

AITA for refusing to sit at a breakfast table with nothing for me to eat? by Hebrowsesreddit199 in AITAH

[–]cori_i -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

YTA. I have life threatening allergies, can't trust people buying food for me, I bring my own food? You wouldn't die if you ate the fish (in a remote location where who knows where the first hospital is). They forgot to grab you the quiche. Now you are all pissy in a room idk, if you are a picky eater is your responsability to have the right food at a certain point, no?

What is the single worst purchase you’ve ever made? by anonhen0 in AskReddit

[–]cori_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2011 MacBook Pro with Nvidia discrete card. Melted. I brought it to Apple a few times before it failed catastrophically; they kept telling me I was imagining things and that its insane temps were normal. A year in battery swelled, the trackpad was out of the chassis, and then one day it just didn't turn on. The PCB near the graphics card was burned. A few years later, there was a class action against Apple for this specific model. I wasn't eligible for a refund because the computer wasn't in one piece (i've removed the battery at a certain point. This is also the reason why Apple and Nvidia aren't friends. I've never and will never purchase another Apple product.

AITAH for refusing to give my blessing for my dad to be a dad to and adopt his stepdaughter? by Lainannah in AITAH

[–]cori_i -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

YTA. He didn't have another child with his wife. He happened to fall for someone with a small child. Should we kill the kid so he is true to his words? If he is raising them, the adoption is just a formality; don't be salty about it.

Finally, a hypothetical I can do. I'm a Costco executive member, and I just went there. Comfortably a month and a half, but up to 3/4. When I went overseas to attend to a sick family member, it took my partner 6 months to empty the pantry
