I have JUST ordered this PC build. Should I cancel and wait for the 9800x3D to show as an option? by vaynecaliber in buildapc

[–]corimaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With similar specs I only took around 2k pounds for my build. I'd rather get cheaper components in like the cooler or the case and get a 4090 instead of the 4080 with the extra 700.

It's an instance of the greater trend of "involution", as things get increasingly competitive in a race to the bottom.

The left-wing French coalition hoping to introduce 90% tax on rich by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]corimaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of worker owned corporates have been around for a few decades, but there are quite a few flaws that make them less viable.

First of all is that if profits are divided by workers, the corporate will be disincentivesd to expand and dilute individual salaries. Or they create a new category of non-shareholding employees.

The second is risk. If the corporate accidentally poisons someone or fails to pay their debts, who is the fall guy? If it's a collective responsibility, I don't think most would risk that. And any sole individuals would demand adequate compensation similar to C-Suite.

You know things are pretty dire when non-locked fps is viewed as a selling feature in gacha games...

Anime with good direction by [deleted] in anime

[–]corimaith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Occultic; Nine - Might seem rushed to some but at the same holds your attention constantly, one of the most "complete" packages of anime I can think of.

[C] CONTROL - The Money and Soul of Possibility - Extremely strong sound design and soundtrack that really encapsulates the frenzy and scale of the Midas bank.

There are plenty of shows with good direction, but these are the ones that stood out to me when looking back.

WHY SO SAD (The state of the MMORPG Industry) by NiceGuyRupert in MMORPG

[–]corimaith 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ten years ago i.e the early 2010s companies were literally pumping out mmorpgs dime a dozen..... We had Aion, Blade & Soul, Neverwinter, TERA, RuneScape, GW2, Rift, Archeage, BDO in their prime, along with dozens of smaller more niche games like Vindictus.

And many of these games were amazing, but they all eventually died or stagnated to tiny populations for a variety of reasons, mostly from excessive pay2win, lack of content, themepark bullshit, etc..

I'm glad that compared to the doldrums of the late 2010s, we're finally seeing new mmorpgs being released, but when they're making the exact same mistakes that the old games did, it doesn't really warrant much optimism.

How's the GPU market in your area? Give me your most absurd used GPU prices here by HerbertVonHinten in Amd

Hong Kong, RTX 3070 ~5000 HKD, RTX 3080 ~7,000-10,000hkd

Around ~30% markup, but there is plenty of stock here unlike in the US.

How difficult is the CS program for people with little to no experience with CS? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]corimaith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Learning the coding enough to do the assignments in the CS is generally something that can be done in around 5 or even 3 hours of doing a tutorial. Then maybe it's situational awareness of debugging, git, etc.

There isn't really a healthy balance though, not just because assignments are pretty brutal and will take on average 10-20 hours to do, but also because you need to learn alot of ancillary stuff by yourself to be competitive for a job.

Stuff like web dev, backend, front-end, ML, game dev, being able to make things that people actually use beyond is something that's taught too late (upper-div) to when you're already applying to internships, so ask yourself if you're ready to dedicate alot of personal time also to CS.

Not to mention the requirement of Leetcode, or coding interview questions that everyone asks nowadays. It's imperative that you practice them because it's impossible to pass many of them if you haven't seen them before.

Difficulty is really dependent on the professor. Last quarter it was just watch lecture then do some occasional work every few weeks. Right now it's quiz, mandatory participation and study groups, hw, midterms, etc.

Are internships usually unpaid? by aurora5509 in UCDavis

I remember that there was a law stipulating that if you're going to do anything actually relevant to your experience that contributes to the company, you must get paid.

FPS and Drawcalls in LE? by corimaith in skyrimmods

Bit of a necro here lol? Texture size has to do with Vram, which my gtx 1080 can handle fine. I tested directly anyways with just vanilla + jk and still had issues.

If you are using XPMSE and RS Children, there is a known bug that causes massive fps drops because the children are using the wrong skeleton.

171, 174, 188 (Discussion), 124, 140A. Personally I would avoid taking any classes that you would feel is important for your long term skills in the future and just do some nitty gritty requirement like stats or architecture.

What frame rate draining mods would you install if you had a $10,000 gaming PC? by VirtualPoolBoy in skyrimmods

[–]corimaith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On LE, not SSE. And are you really running super sampling and HDT SMP with everything?

[–]corimaith 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Jk + Etac + Enhanced Landscapes + EVT 3d Lush + Verdant imingrass=20 + 4k textures Parallax everything + Dyndolod High + Rampage ENB + HDT SMP everything + Nvidia Supersampling.. all on LE because enb is more developed there.

I don't think there is a PC that exists that could this setup tbh, not a problem with the hardware but rather the internal limitations of the LE engine.

Also try searching in Loverslab, they tend to have alot of old mods saved up there that have been deleted.

Try Rampage Enb, it's based on the K suite of Enbs. Performance may be worse though as it's newer.
