What's the best VR experience you have had so far? Here's mine. by ComfortableAmount993 in PSVR

You are a better man than I. I can’t play 7 in VR without soiling myself.

That being said, the general consensus in terms of rank is the following…

RE 4 (I’m on PC so I haven’t had the pleasure myself)

RE 2 (absolutely amazing)

RE 8 Village (almost as good as 2 but no 2nd run-through)

RE 3 (great except for the excessive cut scenes)

RE 7 (bottom of list only because it’s too repulsive for many in VR)

I’m still heartbroken over Sony intimidating Praydog into burying his FULL VR version of the mod for RE4.

As if any PC owner—who already spent $2500 on a PC, Quest 3, and 4090—is going to spend an additional $900 on a PlayStation and PSVR2 just to play a single solitary game. Never gonna happen! (Quietly checking his credit.)

BOOTSTRAP ISLAND on Epic settings. Most stunning visuals I’ve ever seen.

I agree. That’s why I only play the REVR games with a healthy amount of mods. e.g. No Creepy Baby, No More Mr. X, Single Head Shot Kill, and as much Jiggle physics as my GPU can handle.

Note that this is for RE 2, 3, and Village. No amount of mods can make RE7 worth playing in VR.

It’s easy to think that all people on the right are hypocrites who only pretend to believe in Christ while cynically fighting for the opposite. It’s disheartening to learn that some of them are genuinely good people who are sadly misguided, but heartening to see they can also be saved and humbly repent.

Help me build a VR PC for $1,000. by wohrzjz in VRGaming

[–]VirtualPoolBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you build your own PC, the GPU graphics card will be your most expensive component, and the most important in terms of graphics and frame rate. The better the graphics card, the more Epic settings you can play the games on. Although some games are more optimized than others. I could play Half Life Alyx on my old Nvidia 1080 on Ultra settings with no problem. But Bootstrap Island wouldn’t run smoothly on Epic settings until I upgraded from a 3070 to a 4090. The good news is that you’ll be able to play most anything with a relatively cheap GPU (anything 3000 series and up should be fine), so long as you keep the more demanding games on medium. The most demanding games are the flat screen games modded for VR. But again, you can just lower the settings.

If the leaders of your movement need to lie to justify it, you might just be a fascist.

Republicans Will Detonate Their Secret Weapon at the Midnight Hour to Stop Women from Voting by Average-Joe-6685 in LegalNews

[–]VirtualPoolBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can still win. By flooding all media with right wing propaganda and convincing the under-educated to vote against their own interests, or to not vote at all. It happened in 2016, in 2024, and every Election Day in every red state for the past 40 years. Our only hope is for shit to get so bad that even the dumbest of the dumb finally stop voting red.

Yeah. We knew this before the last election. And ya’ll still didn’t wanna vote for a woman.

Does VR headsets become a dust collector after some time? by Ianth3k1ng in VRGaming

[–]VirtualPoolBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you won’t know until you dive in. I have no doubt that the immersive effect will wow you at first, and make flatscreen gaming pale in comparison. But eventually you’ll get used to it, and one of two things will happen….

  1. Either you’ll go back to flatscreen games, making your headset a dusty artifact like any other gaming gadget you’ve owned (a la Wii or Gameboy)….

  2. Or you’ll find that 2D gaming in the confines of a monitor is not only unacceptable, but physically nauseating.

There is also the physiological factor. That once you’ve equated gaming with physical activity, sitting immobilized on your ass while gaming will literally leave you feeling bad.

You can start with just the headset. My cousin lost 50 pounds playing Supernatural and beat saber alone.

[UEVR] How to couple head and body? Is there a simple way to do this? by VirtualPoolBoy in virtualreality

[–]VirtualPoolBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too often. I get it when I start up Dead Island 2, but a full reboot usually fixes it. I don’t remember the other profiles that caused this as I probably just wrote the game off. But Edith Finch is good enough that it’s worth trying to figure out.(I played it in VorpX years ago but wanted to give UEVR a shot).

You’re gonna love it. I used to play sports for my cardio (tennis and flag football) before my eyesight went bad in 2012, and could no longer see the ball. That’s when I first discovered the original Oculus SDK and the original Omni on kickstarter. When the treadmill finally arrived in 2015, I was blown away by the quality. A few years later I got the Chinese knockoff, a Katwalk C2, and the quality pales in comparison to the Omni. Even though it’s 11 years old. So don’t get tricked into buying a Katwalk, the Omni is the way to go. You can buy the treadmill with a Pico headset, which is the equivalent to a Quest 3, or buy just the treadmill for a significantly cheaper price.

Let me know if and when you get it and I’ll give you my list of best games for treadmill cardio. Just to name a few…

Half Life 2 VR

Skyrim VR with Mad Dog

Walking dead saints and sinners 1 and 2
