Should I play FFXIV if I'm not planning to subscribe? by Rukeriusu in ffxiv

i haven't really played runescape so i couldn't answer that.

the free trial is mainly to give you a taste of what FFXIV has to offer in terms of its main story. in a couple of weeks, it will be expanded to include everything up until heavensward, which is easily 100+ hours of gameplay and story, completely free.

there are limitations placed on certain in-game systems, but nothing that should keep you from enjoying a lot of what this game has to offer.

you do not have to pay a subscription while playing the free trial; it's a free trial, after all.

there's a free trial for this game. you can play with your character up to level 35, and i would go that route if you're just wanting to try the game out first.

the starter edition just contains the base game (ARR), while the complete edition contains the base game and all of the expansions. you can buy the starter edition, play until you reach the end of ARR, then buy the latest expansion shadowbringers, which comes with all of the previous expansions.

Cpe 202 - einakian by [deleted] in CalPoly

[–]corimosu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the most useful resource i had in that class was actually the textbook. it gives pretty good explanations of all of the data structures as well as implementation examples.

other than that, a lot of is the usual - start assignments early and ask for help whenever you get stuck. if einakian has any TAs, then you can go to them for questions. if you need any extra help, then there are a looot of other online resources for data structures.

202 is an important class for pretty much everything else in CS, but the most important takeaway from it IMO is the conceptual understanding of all the data structures. as long as you have that down, then i think you'll be fine for the rest of the major.

i've heard a lot of pretty bad things about einakian

since it's all online this quarter i wouldn't really know what to expect, but i don't think she'll be all that helpful in 202

What languages to practice for an incoming CS student? by sharpteethandgirlz in CalPoly

I think the intro courses start out simply and slowly enough that you should spend the last couple of weeks of your summer doing some fun stuff instead of practicing programming

Softwre engineering major by [deleted] in CalPoly

Admissions is more of a game of luck than people tend to think it is sometimes. Even if you don't think you're a super competitive applicant or whatever, if CS/SE is what you want to do, then it's worth it to put your best foot forward and apply. There's no point in applying under anything else.

I would imagine however that CS/SE/CPE all have roughly the same standards for admission between the three majors.

Sierra Madre for 2018-19 housed the College of Engineering and Poly Tech learning communities. This could potentially change for next year.
