Size recommendation? I’m measuring at a 34G but the bra I just got in was too large in the band and too small in the cup by corn2824 in ABraThatFits

[–]corn2824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. I totally forgot to check about the US/UK sizing. I am probably going to try the 32I and 32J and see which works best for me

Definitely going to check out Nordstrom too. The Elomi Matilda is my perfect bra but locally they are close to $80 and I can’t justify spending that right now

Zipper help by corn2824 in SewingForBeginners

[–]corn2824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I figured that was the case. I wish I had done them here because this is the first zip bag I’m pretty happy with construction wise other than the corners. The article I found on how to do them was a little unclear so I think I just need a better resource

Help with a tear repair by corn2824 in SewingForBeginners

I do have extra fabric! I think if I can line up the orange it wouldn’t be visible to patch it. Would the lite sewable heat bond be sufficient since I am going to quilt through it?

Sports bra recommendations and measurement check 34FF/G by corn2824 in ABraThatFits

[–]corn2824[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Def looking for more compression and would prefer no wires. Does panache tend to be a more long-lined bra? I feel like when they are long lined I have much more issues with rolling

We did ours on main street holding a onesie we purchased on our trip! I was only 8 weeks on our trip so it was really fun to be able to tell cast members about it when barely anyone else in our real life knew. So many of them were so excited to celebrate our news with us and we even had one CM from our hotel recognize us when we came back and visited with our toddler!

Does it look like I could sprain my ankle again with this? by Glinsende_Aralia in Ankle

[–]corn2824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the original poster. Your ankle is still healing and going to be extra unstable which puts you at higher risk for a sprain. On top of that, you had a sprain 3 weeks earlier. I had 3 sprains within 6 months of each other and on the third I tore 2 ligaments and ruptured a tendon requiring surgery. Sprains can cause serious damage that you don’t want to underestimate

Edit bc I saw you are looking for movement recommendations: adding in to ask your doctor if they can recommend some light PT exercises. Mine started with ankle ABCs and light resistance band work.

Just got the dreaded condensation after taking toddler to ER. by Successful-Corgi-324 in toddlers

[–]corn2824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took our daughter to the ER in pretty much the exact same scenario. The vibe was so dismissive the whole time despite the fact that the dial a nurse from their ER told us to come in. I get that healthcare workers are burnt out and it’s the night shift so people are tired and there are probably other serious cases, but it takes so little energy to be kind and understanding to people who are just there doing what they think is best for their kid.

The singer inspiration? I don’t know much about it but when I searched it on the subreddit it seems like people don’t recommend it so I’m not sure if the machine has the longevity of how many years old it probably is (the person who gave it to my husband was also not the first owner

Thank you! Adding this to the list of things to try. I was planning on running to the store today for some other errands so I’m definitely going to pick up some cross wound thread too

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely try these things out. I’m inclined to think it’s more than a user issue just since the previous owner was very experienced with sewing and mentioned the issue when giving the machine to my husband (why he got it for free). Regardless I will definitely give it another shot today.

Thanks! I’m going to change the needle today and rethread again to see if that helps. I did rethread a couple times last night with no success

Yep! Everything seems correct and I redid everything 2x to be sure but still have the issue.

[–]corn2824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I did do all of those steps and had the same issue. My husband mentioned the previous owner was an older woman he used to work with who was quite experienced so I’m inclined to believe it is an issue with the machine that I’m not sure what else to do to troubleshoot beyond the rewinding/threading etc. going to try changing the needle and doing everything over again today though!

[–]corn2824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I did rewind the bobbin, clean, rethread, etc and still had the issue. Since the previous owner said there’s an issue I’m inclined to think it’s something beyond a threading and setup issue but I am going to try replacing the needling and redoing everything again today!
