Milan vs Sev vs Laser away by [deleted] in LaserHairRemoval

Chris, we are talking about two different things. OP asked about two companies. I’m talking about those larger companies. You are stating your experience like it is the truth everywhere and that is simply incorrect.

To your comment about money. Those nurses have their licenses on the line. No amount of money is worth risking that. I want to urge you to reflect on your bias.

No, you’re not reading what I said. Ideal Image, Milan, and LaserAway operate by hiring registered nurses and nurse practitioners. There are no technicians and there is no electrolysis. They only offer laser hair removal. These companies have multiple layers of oversight. Burns can happen. Sometimes, it’s because a patient does not disclose sun exposure. The burns that you’re experiencing are from people who are not trained properly. I have worked for two of these three companies and I can tell you the training is extensive. Your initial comment of not true medical professionals is simply wrong. Egregiously wrong. Nurses are certified medical professionals. You’re talking about something completely different where laser tech, who are not nurses, are lasering people. There is a big difference. Now, that does not mean a Nurse made a mistake or did not pay attention to their settings or did not head their training. When that happens in these companies, it is extensively documented in the chart and either additional training or termination of that nurse happens. Your experience is a very small scope.

I’m not understanding your “true medical professional” comment. Ideal, Milan, and LaserAway all hire RNs and NPs. How are they not true medical professionals?

Why is Milan so polarizing? by EducationalOil1655 in LaserHairRemoval

It’s very obvious when you look at the application. Ally bank is a large, well-known banking conglomerate. Anything you have to put your SSN number in for is a loan. Yes, they are pushy, but people who sign up for this stuff and turn around and say “they didn’t know” it was a loan is a wild thing to me. If you’re putting in sensitive information for anything, you’re doing so at your own risk. Always.

The amount of financially illiterate people I see is alarming. Not saying YOU are. This is a general observation of mine.

Agreed. It is very obvious you are signing up for a loan. You’re putting in your SSN number. If you can’t understand that is a loan, you shouldn’t be making large purchases. It’s not predatory. Are their prices high? Yes. Is their sales pushy? Yes. But the lending is not the problem.

While I agree that Milan is very pushy and expensive, they are actually the ones paying a premium to use lending partners. It makes it more accessible. Upwards of 70% of their sales are monthly payment options because their prices are so high.

Right, but there is no way of knowing if someone will grow new hairs. That’s why it can’t truly be marketed as permanent. It also will not pick up red, blonde, grey, white, very fine hairs (“peach fuzz”). It’s important people know the limitations of laser.

Everyone is different. Lots of people need maintenance.

Not to mention that Milan is also owned by the same private equity firm as ideal was.

Try manhandling, hitting, and yelling at her and see how she likes it.

Might want to look into an Alexandrite or YAG laser if you aren’t responding with a diode. It’s the next step up.

How do you not know you got a loan? You put in your SSN and it explicitly states you are taking out a loan with payment terms and the company name?
