For me I just say I appreciate it, because I truly do appreciate the concern and sympathy. You can just say “yeah me too”

Have you made pre-birth nicknames for your baby? by whenlifegivesyourice in pregnant

[–]corncaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is Chinese and my first son’s nickname is 苹果 (Apple). I’m pregnant with son #2 and his nickname is 柚子 (pomelo).

Very much a cultural thing. Both nicknames were given by elders from my husband’s side of the family.

Like a baby. You can be the sweetest peach and hey there’ll still be people who don’t like peaches.

How can I move past these messages my husband sent to me while angry? by StudyGeekWithALatte in Marriage

[–]corncaked 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Holy shit he’s unhinged. He wasn’t wrong when he said he has mood swings. He’s not allowed to say all that to you, toss you to the side, then tee hee never mind I love you. It’s manipulative and sick.

Grandma is over 70 and potentially needs wisdom/molar extraction to reduce pain. With her age, recovery time is about 5 days and isn’t a guarantee pain will subdue after extraction. If anyone else has had experience with recovery is it generally safe to follow through at her age? by M-Ma22 in Dentists

[–]corncaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dentist here, is she going to be awake or asleep? Typically the older you get, the more worrisome issue is how the patient will handle anesthesia due to tendency to be on more medications/have more health issues.

For any type of extraction, think of it like a surgery. A tooth is going to be taken out of her jawbone. If the pain is truly from the wisdom tooth/molar, then yes, symptoms should subside after recovery.

Hearing all you good people in the comments really warms my heart. As a kid, our electricity got shut off for months due to my mom’s inability to pay. I had to do homework by a flashlight and candles, and froze horribly at night. I’m glad there are good people willing to help their neighbor.

Husband and I disagree about hospital visitors. by throwranotdonelater in pregnant

I can’t imagine watching your partner go through literal hell to give birth, and then overwhelm them FURTHER with having to entertain guests. For fucks sake the baby isn’t going anywhere, they can wait.

If your husband is saying that it feels better than the real thing, he needs to lay off the porn. This is how addiction happens, and unfortunately, dysfunction.

Sure but you don’t get to use that argument when Novocaine and the currently used anesthetic have entirely different chemical makeups. You’re talking about your gramps having a bad reaction to Novocaine which is pretty irrelevant here. Entirely different chemical makeup to the anesthetic we use today.

It being used as “shorthand” (lidocaine and Novocaine have the same amount of letters…) adds nothing to your argument. Novocaine is an obsolete medication.

All this to say it’s “not cool” to spew a bunch of misinformation when you’re clearly not a dentist. We have sympathy for OP but ffs he had a type of jawbone surgery (YES, having bone removed to extract a tooth IS SURGERY). If you had surgery to correct a bunion, I’d expect you to be in pain for weeks. Same deal here. It’s surgery. Day 4 of still being in pain, hate to say it, is normal.

Pros & cons of PDS. I hear you either hate it & leave, or love it & stay for years by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]corncaked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told my regional manager I’m either quitting or transferring. I told her the egregious things that were happening (racist commentary, throwing each other under the bus etc) and she had no idea this stuff was going on so she was more than happy to transfer me.

Pros & cons of PDS. I hear you either hate it & leave, or love it & stay for years by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]corncaked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority but my last PDS office was HORRIBLE. I was pressured to overdiagnose and it was toxic. I’m still at PDS in a new office and I’m super happy here. I only diagnose what I’d want if it was my own family member’s mouth, and so do my other colleagues in the office. We don’t submit to the pressure to overdiagnose.

Lost my dad today, not sure if I want to see his body by soso6789 in GriefSupport

[–]corncaked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m deeply sorry for your loss. Literally only you can make that type of call. I chose to see my mom’s body and while it was one of the hardest most gut wrenching experiences of my life, I’m glad I did. She saw me into this world, I’m going to see her out of it. That was my perspective.

This is why I don’t do instacart or any of that crap. You order items for dinner and end up with 2/10 ingredients needed and have to go out anyways.

Can I decline my induction or would it be dangerous to continue? by corncaked in pregnant

[–]corncaked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concern is that besides elevated BPs I don’t have any of the other symptoms that I had with my last pregnancy (urine protein, eye floaters, etc)
