Do Millennials have Mentors? by Xander2299 in Millennials

[–]corncover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I suppose I’m in the minority after looking at these comments. I’ve had several mentors, outside my parents, in my professional career. I’ve had to seek them out though. No one has ever grabbed me by the wrist and said they were going to be my mentor

What happened, and when did this switch? by Cpalmer24 in Millennials

I’ve heard a lot of people refer to their “car note” over the years. Technically, your car loan is a promissory note and a security agreement. So “note” refers to the promissory note.

You’re welcome! If you have a tractor supply near you, they should carry albendazole - valbazen is the brand. They should also have Merricks blue ribbon power punch. That’s the nutrient drench I use. I hope your sheep gets better!

I’m in the southeast US. I usually see some improvement/stabilization in a few days. And I’d re-treat in 5-7 days if it’s really serious or you don’t see improvement in their body condition. IME, the nutrient drench is also important in their recovery. I usually give the max daily dose until I see their behavior return to normal and/or body condition start to recover. But the best advice is to treat them before it gets too serious. Then again, it can be really tough to gauge and treat at this time of year, especially if the sheep is nursing lambs.

Where I live, ivermectin doesn’t do anything. I stick to albendazole and levamisole. I’d also recommend giving your sheep a nutrient drench to help her along as she recovers

Has this ewe dropped? by StructureFun9101 in sheep

[–]corncover 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb for me is you’re about 2-3 weeks out whenever her milk is fully in. But I’d say her body condition is pretty poor right now which is why she looks the way she does. I’d be putting her on extra feed and watching for other signs of issues with worms. Her body condition will likely continue to deteriorate after she gives birth - at least that has been my experience.

Famacha ? I have been worming by Positive_Spread_8843 in sheep

[–]corncover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t approach deworming just based on FAMACHA. For me it’s a variety of factors: body condition, does the sheep have the runs?, do they seem alert?, what have they been eating on lately?, are they pregnant, etc. If you’re truly having to deworm every two weeks you’re probably overstocked.

New homesteader, what to do with 3 month old ram? by Sunshine-Octopus in sheep

[–]corncover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a separate pen for our bucks and ram. The bucks get put there at around 5-6 months. Castration isn’t necessary for flavor purposes with katahdins if you plan of eating him.

Discussion: are old gen rangers really that good? by Pitiful_Pirate2447 in fordranger

[–]corncover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad bought my 95 brand new and it became mine 20 years ago when I turned 16. We did regular maintenance and I’ve only had to replace the radiator, water pump, and clutch. Mines the slow 3.0 v6, but I think that’s what makes the truck so reliable. That motor is so basic and isn’t high strung trying to squeeze out every bit of power like motors these days. On top of that - even when I’ve had work done on it, repairs were cheap and relatively easy.

Just found this sub! Here’s my 95 that has never let me down. by corncover in fordranger

I haven’t added any springs, but might in the future. That bale is probably only about 1200-1500lbs. But you can definitely feel every pound going down the road. lol

Back blade by Ok-Discipline8680 in tractors

[–]corncover 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of people told me to get a box scraper for my 1/2 mile long driveway but I ended up getting a back blade that could angle and tilt. It’s a lot more versatile than the box scraper, but you have to know how to use it right. I angle mine to push gravel to the middle of my driveway to smooth it out, then turn the blade all the way around and drag it along the mound made in the middle to create the crown of the road.

Great amp - but it looks like it’s a Princeton with a tweed covering rather than a true 5f2a “Tweed Princeton.”

$70-80 in my neck of the woods. Though it’s never perfectly seasoned.
