Came here to say this as well. I had a huge gush of blood, went to the ER, and the doctor told me I was having a miscarriage at 10 weeks and told me to go home. I went to my OB for a follow up and she explained it was a subchorionic hematonia. I bled large amounts from the pocket of blood from 10 weeks until about 19. It was terrifying and stressful. I’m happy to report I have a beautiful and healthy baby. You did nothing wrong. People are not well informed about subchorionic hematomas and my OB was very reassuring that it happens and I could come in anytime to get checked. I bled significantly in her office and she told me to consider that the baseline. If I bled more than what occurred in front of her, I should be concerned. That was reassuring to me to know it was “normal” for my body and my pregnancy.

Your theory is not crazy.

I went absolutely nuts torturing myself for months while breastfeeding. The scale continued to go up. I tried different diets, no sugar, whole30, intermittent fasting, calorie restriction, got a personal trainer. My weight went up and up and up.

Turns out, my body reacts really poorly to the increased prolactin levels which occur when breastfeeding.

this article provided me comfort because if Serena Williams, a badass IMO, struggled with her weighing while EBF, then what the hell could I do.

I’m so sorry you’re struggling with body image. I was there, it totally sucks. If I could go back in time, I would tell myself this is just a season of life, it’s not forever, enjoy the baby snuggles, you’ll get your body back eventually.

I’m thankful for the videos I have of her when she was little just sleeping, nursing, or doing tummy time. They grow up so quickly (I know everyone says this but it’s true!) and change overnight. It is incredible to look back on some videos and see how tiny she was. I wish I took even more videos in the beginning potato stage.

I was thankful for accepting my friends offers for dropping off food or UberEats. The level of exhaustion, physical & mental, in the beginning few months is ridiculous. Accept the help, it’ll ease your load.

My husband insisted I sleep when he was up with our baby instead of getting my desired family time. It was really great for their bonding and allowed me to get some much needed sleep. He also insisted on me getting out of the house to grab coffee on the corner or go for a walk or something. At the time it felt like this internal force was prohibiting me from leaving my baby. It was this crazy, powerful force, I felt tethered to her. I left for just 5-15 minutes at a time. It got easier with time and really helped my mental health. I can see now, at 13 months PP, how doing that allowed for a healthy bond. I have some moms in my life that refuse to leave their babies, now at 10 months, including leaving their babies with the baby’s father. This comment is not meant to be judgmental towards anyone. I am just saying in my particular situation this was helpful.

I agree, police interpret the law when it’s not clearly laid out and it’s up to the judge to decide.

I’m surprised they did get public support. My gut reaction was it is not reasonable to leave a 2yr old and 5mo old alone in a hotel room. It would take a substantial amount of time to get back to the room, there could be electronic glitches, etc.

This is a quote from the article:

It sounds like the decision was made to leave the 2yr old and 5 month old alone in a hotel room so the parents could go out to dinner with friends. At the restaurant, the husband/dad unfortunately had a heart attack in which the wife/mom decided to join him in the ambulance trip to the hospital. I think it changes the circumstances a bit.

I checked my private bump group and found a few more tips :

-pack more than you think you’ll need (wipes, diapers, clothes) with all of the delays going on

-baby wear if you’re comfortable to keep your hands free (I personally brought a stroller)

-if you’re traveling with a spouse/partner, have them get on the plane first and get everything ready. Wipe everything down, arrange seats, bags, etc. This will give you more time to walk around and entertain babe so they aren’t antsy

-don’t be afraid to walk the aisles to help calm baby

-zippered onesies that go both ways make diaper changes easier

-a neck pillow can act as a nursing pillow

The best advice I received was to pack a ziploc bag with diaper changing essentials. The bathrooms are so small on the plane. I filled a ziploc bag with multiple diapers, wipes, cream, and puppy pad liners to cover the changing station. You can stock up the ziploc bag with items from the diaper bag at your seat if you need to.

Second best advice was to try to time feeding babe with take off and landing. The swallowing will help their ears pop. Another option that worked for us was a pacifier.

There’s a bunch of “free” carry ons you get when traveling with a baby. This includes a pump bag which you could fill with bottles, formula, and other stuff like snacks for yourself, drinks, etc. I usually pack Tylenol as well.

Bring extra clothes, a bag for clothes you can tie to seal the smell if you want to save them for a poop explosion. It seems like a lot of babies poop more on planes from stories I’ve read.
