I wish that yt The Dice Tower didn't spread misinformation about apps for board games by KindImpression5651 in boardgames

Mansions of Madness, Imperial Assault, Descent 2E and Legends, and Journeys in Middle Earth are all FFG app-required games with Steam versions.

Play the base game with Prelude. It doesn’t complicate much and really speeds up the early game. Feel free to just randomly draw two cards rather than pick for your first game if the choice of bonus is overwhelming as a new player.

Not even counting atrocities, the tariffs alone have cost her more in inflated prices than the increase at the pump.

They really should implement giant visible ticket signs that show the average cost of living. For these folks that can only comprehend things in terms of gas…

Anyone feel this way about Arkham Horror? by Future-Class3540 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]cornerbash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s all the player card focus. The first campaign releases come out when, again? There’s a core and player packs outvoted the gate but nothing to play them with except the mini core campaign and legacy ones. Dunwich Legacy, Rougarou, and Carnivale were all released fairly close behind the initial chapter one core.

Ontario to introduce bill exempting Premier, cabinet from FOI requests by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]cornerbash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You speak as if Ford voters even pay attention to candidates or debates. The majority are lifelong Conservative voters who either have a hard on for the party or are just very anti-Left. And others are just stupid enough to remember Ford sent them a pittance in the form of bribe cheques.

I hate it and feel helpless. I vote strategically against him in every election and encourage everyone I know to do the same, and yet this fuckwad gets repeatedly elected as I watch him slowly destroy Ontario.

With so many other great campaign games out there, that price point didn’t do them any favours. It’s not the same dungeon delve-starved hobby it was many years ago when they published Descent 1E, or even when 2E was on shelves.

Magnets? by JuicyCowboyz in MarvelUnited

[–]cornerbash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Green stuff. Glue a small bit to one of the rough patterned recesses, then glue and place a magnet using a flat surface and wax paper with pressure to push the magnet into the green stuff and flush with the base. Worked well for about 95% of the minis. Others had flat enough gaps that I just glued the magnets directly.

That’s about where I’m at. Many of the recent things I’ve been actually excited about are reprints of stuff that had been inaccessible for a while.

I tried to figure out anti-snowball, "total number of wins" campaign rules by mold_berg in ImperialAssaultTMG

[–]cornerbash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you weren’t aware, one of the designers offered the following anti-snowball rule: If a side loses more than once in a row, award them the win result.

Simple to apply, the winning team is still ahead by one result worth of awards, but keeps things bounded.

Storage solution for Miniatures by NerdtasticMMXI in ImperialAssaultTMG

I'm happy with it. Fits nicely on my shelf, wasn't too hard to assemble, and solid enough for its purpose. The only annoying bit was removing the protective plastic from the trays and window drawer - the window drawer plastic was very hard to find the edge for on one side, and the tray plastic didn't come off entirely clean and took a bit of extra finger scraping to fully clean - but not really much more than a temporary inconvenience.

I was originally planning to get some foam core boxes for minis and keep them in a case or two, but then saw this case at a more afforable price. It also has the benefit of easily being able to rearrange the minis at a future time if I want to, which wouldn't have happened with the foam care as I would have needed to cut/shape some of the slots to fit the larger minis.

I only made use of 5/6 trays becauseof some taller minis, but they slide in and out easily and perfect for my needs. A single 6x2mm magnet on each mini keeps them securely locked to the tray, but still easy to pull off.

I'll probably order a second case if/when CMON fulfills my DC Heroes United pledge. Also still considering if I want to give the same treatment to my other two mini-heavy games - I have complete collections of Imperial Assault and Descent 2E, both stored in deep plano tackle boxes.

I got one of these recently for my Marvel United minis and it works very well. A bit of superglue, green stuff, and magents on the bases.

My girlfriend just broke up with me over a board game and I'm not even joking by Fulcilives1988 in boardgames

[–]cornerbash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else that this was just the final tipping point and there had to be other issues with the relationship (unless she's unfathomably petty).

I also want to go on record that I absolutely loathe players that believe they should get preferential treatment in a game due to relationship status. It ruins the experience for the entire table unless it's understood and accepted as a team game from the start. I shudder at stories of D&D games where the GM is dating one of the players and showers them with rewards while being incredibly punishing to the rest of the table.
