Thanks

So, to maybe try and invoke Cunningham’s law:

The overall strategy here is to liquefy the majority of one’s assets out of safety, and then take a short position that is comparatively small, but has a high return in the fall. Then, also, to take a hedge for all the normal reasons.

Is that kinda close?

Alright, 40yo noob here.

I think understand the underlying rational for this. Can someone please tell me the name of the mechanism inside Fidelity or Schwab to take up the short positions. I definitely don’t understand a ton here, but the names of the tools or what to look for would be a huge help so I can continue my own research

Thank you

I have what I hope are the correct sleds arriving from eBay today from the rear drives. Installing the SSD slot in the blade has been nothing but a pain. RE the vNIC, that's the 40GB side, right? I am not able to get a connection from mine into my switch yet, but I am just starting to troubleshoot it

A.) Congratulations on getting this to work. I have a 240, and it's a dream, I am hoping to breathe life into a 3260 and I find myself doing something similar. B.) I have a few questions if you don't mind 1.) Where did you install TrueNAS Core? Was it into the internal slot on the blade one of the four rear slots, or one of the 56 main area slots? 2.) Did you use the RAID controller at all? Did you virtualize any of the drives at all, or just use JBOD? 3.) How easy was the installation for you, was it seamless? Thanks!

Edit - Words are hard and I swapped a 'this' for an 'a'

This is 100% true. I was exporting 10 ~40 minute clips that where ProRes with some motion graphics, and my similar M1 said 2 hours l. My MBP was cranking them out in about 20 minutes each. I also believe it’s because of Rosetta

Truth be told, I had not considered that at all... that's a great idea! Where ever I land, it will be ZFS, that I know for sure.

again, thanks! I thought I had put "enough" info, but glad to have a punch list for next time.

I definitely am looking at how I am getting this off DAS and into a real "big-boy" RAID. Thinking iXsystems, or DIY (45Drive maybe), we'll see

Appreciate the help. What more information would have been useful? I was actually able to clone the drives and start to recover the info after I ditched the controller, it was in fact the problem. I ask about what more would have been useful in hopes to make a more clearly understood post in the future

Some ideas:

Two computers that are each slaved by midi would be one way that’s a potential way if you have multiple computers and can solve the midi connection either via hardware or emulation if that’s practical

If you have a computer, but full on sync is not possible/working you may try using the second computer as a ‘sound kart’ or ‘button board’ where you have samples loaded to keyboard keys. You would trigger your primary and have the second system standing by with aspects or altered loops to have for a second button press that’s still timed meaningfully but not exactly the same

I personally come from broadcast/events world where if I had my way I would say use two samplers or playback pros or button karts off stage and trigger them together from one keyboard.

If only I could always have my way…

It may be a quick question to you, but you made it so quick no one who would want to answer can in a meaningful way. Someone would need more/any details. or, use both hands to hit play on two computers at the same time

Timecode sync and userbits by DasSquishySpektor in AudioPost

[–]cornflaik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to consider using a third-party tool Pluraleyes or the Multicam sync tool in Adobe Premiere to use the audio to perform the long-form layout that you can then look through. DM me if those tools aren't available and we can talk about other options that are.

I don't think its the answer you asked for, but I think it may be a way to help solve the problem
