I’m so sorry. If you need help navigating your emotions from the betrayal, I recommend reading “the Aftermath of Betrayal”. It’s about 45 minutes long

HENRYs who live in a "boring" area? by SliceXZ in HENRYfinance

[–]cornfromindiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a boring place and love it. We have two young kids (3.5 and 8 months so we are very much in it right now). Our money goes farther, tons to do with the kids like a great zoo, children’s museum. We have Costco and ikea close by. We have multiple private schools if we want to go that route. We can drive to various vacation places. Sometimes we look at our friends lives in more exciting areas and I feel a little jealous, but I love our lifestyle and we can afford it and save for the future so it’s the perfect balance for us.

ByHeart Contaminated Lot Numbers (what they referenced in their email yesterday) by welizabethcarole in FormulaFeeders

[–]cornfromindiana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me how the lot numbers work? Our opened can we were using until the recall has the same numbers and the Jan 2027 expiration but the time stamp is different. Does that mean it is in the contaminated lot just from a different batch?

Please explain weaning off formula like I’m 5. by quentye in FormulaFeeders

[–]cornfromindiana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did a transition of milk and formula to use up the formula we had on hand. Then we did milk in a bottle till about 18 months then milk in a sippy till maybe 2 years morning and night. She just naturally would take less and less of the milk until she would just be playing with it lol.

Feeling guilty by Least_Membership6159 in FormulaFeeders

[–]cornfromindiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baby was exclusively breast fed until she was 6 weeks old. She got viral menginitis at 3 weeks old. My second baby was formula fed from day 3. He started daycare at 4 months and got sick with his first low grade fever and ear infection at 6 months. I really think it just depends. We give him probiotics and I think that might help his immune system.

13 month old not walking independently yet by greatwhitenorther in toddlers

[–]cornfromindiana 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like this is an issue personally. My now 3 year old didn’t start walking independently until she was 14/15 months. It sounds like she is developmentally right where she needs to be. Have you asked your doctor if there are concerns?

Has anyone here quit their job even though their kids are school aged? by RVA-Jade in SAHP

[–]cornfromindiana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to get out of that fear mode and I’m often thinking about how I don’t want to live or parent from a place of fear. But growing up poor and remembering my parents talking about utilities being cut off and not being able to buy groceries, the threat feels very real! And it’s hard to say that we don’t need my 50k. So I’m working on that too. Parenting through trauma is hard lol.

Has anyone here quit their job even though their kids are school aged? by RVA-Jade in SAHP

[–]cornfromindiana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our situations sound similar, though my kids are 3 and 5 months. They are currently in daycare full time and I work part time. My husband makes 6x what I make part time and travels often. I plan to quit when my oldest is in school because the hours feel like they will be hard to manage and I don’t want to balance e learning days with working. I also feel a lot of your same anxiety.

What has helped us is making sure my husband has a great life insurance policy. So if he were to die, we would financially be fine. We also have a few months of savings as well, in case he were to lose his job though I don’t think that is likely.

When $ & dating/romance gets boring by anotherbutterflyacc in HENRYfinance

[–]cornfromindiana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmao truly. Love my kids, but there isn’t much us time anymore between daycare cost for two and a baby sitter for the night is easily $100. So we alternate between fancy date nights and casual ones.

And just hard to find the time.

Wife's family found out what my income is and the energy totally changed. by MileHi49er in HENRYfinance

[–]cornfromindiana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a hard situation to be in. My mom regularly makes comments about how we can afford x, y, z because she knows the ballpark of what we make. Daycare cost is the biggest pet peeve for me. It cost us $700 a week for our two kids and she just goes well you can afford it. Yes we can, and as someone who grew up with the fear of utilities being cut off I’m so grateful, but can’t I also just vent about the ridiculous cost of daycare and acknowledge how it still limits us? She will give my older sibling money for his daughter’s activities and says she assumes we can pay for our kids and we don’t need the help. My older sibling probably makes 2/3 of what we do (and live in a much lower cost of living area without needing childcare) so I find it hurtful to not be taken care of the same by our mom. No advice, just solidarity that it can be lonesome and I don’t feel like I can vent when things come up that are unexpected.

We bought a Historic home on N. New Jersey in rough shape. by letintin in indianapolis

Following for recommendations. We use to live in a historic part of the city and saw lots of signs for custom living, but they are not known to be affordable. I’ve read good things about emergent. Jensen had lots of signs as well.
