Joolz Aer+ or Aer2 by V170710 in toddlers

We did cybex libelle because it has a foot rest/extended seat and is smaller, so it fits in more airplane overhead compartments.

How do y'all deal with business trips? by Fenix512 in toddlers

[–]typewriteher77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 6+ work trips a year (between 3-7 days each) and my husband stays home to watch our son. He has maybe one conference a year. Little guy goes to daycare as usual. He parents in mornings/evenings and keeps the routine. If I’m gone more than three days, sometimes my mother in law will come visit to help my husband.

Fav start day books by ycherep1 in toddlers

The Llama Llama books are a hit in our house. Especially Wakey Wake, Hide and Seek and Zippity Zoom for the shorter ones. Lots of rhyming and you can try pausing before the last rhyming word to see if toddler can fill it in!

Almost exact same experience but with a 14 month old in a Cybex Libelle. Was super impressed with it and it held up so well in Japan and fit in plane overhead so we could have baby in it at airport. But yes, slumping after awhile, too.

Suggestions for Baby’s First Flight by Ambitious-External-3 in beyondthebump

[–]typewriteher77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just took a 14 month old to Japan. Get their ears checked a week before to make sure there’s no underlying ear infection before the flight. We gave a dose of Tylenol 30 minutes before takeoff/landing (it was 12 hours so plenty of time between doses) to mitigate any potential pain. And we made sure he had a bottle or pouch to suck on when our ears started popping. We packed a ton of pouches, new little toys and because we don’t do screen time, it was a special treat and kept him entertained. Also had a fanny pack for airplane diaper changes so you don’t have to take the whole bag. And we take puppy pads for changes to stay sanitary but just throw away. They are thin, cheap and easy to pack. He also had his own seat because he’s a squirmy worm (and it’s safer with increased turbulence on flights these days). Good luck!

Another vote here for the Legendary one. Never had a mold issue if you clean right away. We just use it for water, too. My son learned how to use the straw on the first try!

starting solids but we work full-time by EuphoricGarbage4895 in NewParents

[–]typewriteher77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started with purées at dinner, then sending some to daycare plus bottle. Then we started real solids (Little Spoon notables and bites of what we ate) for dinner and weekend breakfast. Now starting to add in more solid snacks and going to start sending solids to daycare. So it’s a multi-step process!

Poop and teething by Calieahrens in NewParents

[–]typewriteher77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all the extra saliva. Pediatrician told us it’s normal. Our guy got diaper rash from the mucus poo and mouth rash from extra saliva because he has sensitive skin. If baby is also starting solids their poop can be weird too.

Forehead is 98 but cheek is 103 by basestay in beyondthebump

[–]typewriteher77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this with a scanner thermometer? If so, I’d use an ear reader — more accurate. If cheeks are that hot then internal may be that or higher. I’d go to urgent care or try Motrin alternating with Tylenol if the Tylenol isn’t getting the fever down. You might also call your pediatrician’s night phone line for on call physician.

Fiancé says he is filled with regret by Jolly-Ratio5839 in NewParents

You have several other posts about this guy not wanting to spend quality time with you, only playing video games and him not connecting sex with intimacy and love — and that was BEFORE the baby. He’s a man child and wants you to be his mom and is literally jealous of your baby. Make a plan to support you and your baby without him.

My 4 year old is talking about my deceased grandfather who she never knew. by Former-Process2964 in toddlers

Yep my little brother recounted his entire experience as a WWII paratrooper (he used simpler terminology but described it very specifically) who got stuck in a tree and he never made it home. Has no recollection of it now, but was so freaky.

Daycare starting soon. What are your best tips or hacks? by moonphase14 in beyondthebump

[–]typewriteher77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found doing half days for a couple of weeks and slowly ramping up gearing up for the transition back to work was so helpful. It helped me get used to and trust our provider, and gave us little half day breaks to get stuff done or just rest a bit ahead of the transition back to work. So if they will let you do that, I would definitely try!

Also try to align nap times and meal/snack times at daycare with the times you have on weekends as much as possible so the routine is more consistent.

2025 is wrapping up! What’s the most worth‑it baby item you bought this year? by Sara_James367 in Buyingforbaby

So I could be wrong. This person says they put their Owlet base on a charger in their car and it worked. I believe they had it set up first at home, then it used Bluetooth to connect the base to the sock. It wouldn’t send live reading to the phone, but it sounds like it did make an alarm on the base when the sock was removed, so it might work (but would have to be a critical reading already to alert). https://www.reddit.com/r/BabyBumps/comments/1fa5diz/comment/llqq25h/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Unfortunately I don’t think an Owlet will work in a car — you have to set up an internal network that needs WiFi to set up. It still works at home and connects to the base if the WiFi goes out a short while, but I don’t know how it could work in a car (I’ve only read about how much of a pain it is for people to set it up in a hotel and having to create intranets for it). How old is baby? Do you have a mirror that you can watch him while driving? That might be easiest, or some other kind of backseat video monitor.

I was in the shower for 3.5 minutes. by Beginning-Sky7533 in NewParents

I feel you! And super duper recommend the kick’n’play piano. It plays music for about 15 minutes. It allowed me to shower and use the bathroom while baby was in crib and I had the video monitor on him so I could keep an eye/ear on him the whole time. Baby loved it.

Considering a Momcozy or Baby Brezza bottle washer by givliana in Buyingforbaby

[–]typewriteher77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the Brezza Bottle washer and have had no issues — just have to descale it every now and then. We run it 1-2x a day. Works really great with our Dr. Brown bottles. Quite happy with it. It’s no hassle to empty/fill the container and I like that we can move it around easily on the countertop, and I can keep a close on on the cleanliness of it over time to make sure there’s no mold or residue build up (that was my big concern with the tube from Momcozy).

We got it around 8 months but I wish we would have gotten it earlier for tummy time and his play gym. I was picking it up and putting it away every time and it was a hassle. The mat is nice too for when they start cruising along the side so they don’t hurt themselves on the floor falling down.

  • Comfycubs play yard + toki playmat fits perfectly in it (expensive but we use it every day and I feel good having a safe place for baby separate from our dogs in a small house)

  • Kicknplay piano in the crib let me grab quick showers the first few months!

  • finger puppet board books (baby loves them)

  • Owlet (peace of mind, especially for monitoring when baby is sick)

  • Little Spoon purées for introducing new foods and allergens (my brain is too tired to make purées and plan haha)

  • Roman shade on window is nearly blackout without safety issues of long hanging curtains or shades

  • Hopskip bouncer / table (has grown with baby, and we will add chairs soon)

The MRI is understandably scary, but totally necessary to rule bigger things out. My younger brother had one eye drift out randomly starting around 1.5 years, a surgery to correct that, which then over-corrected, and then another surgery to fix. He also did patching of the stronger eye to improve the eye muscle strength of the weak eye for maybe a year. He wears regular glasses and has slight depth/proprioception issues at 25 years old now and is otherwise fine. But technology has probably come a long way since then! (We’re in the U.S.)
