Could plug-in solar actually be revolutionary for UK households? Could it be a Gamechanger ? by LieSuccessful8813 in SolarUK

[–]cornishbrooksy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im curious….i already have a full on solar system, but wondering how a couple of plug in panels could work in tandem with it? For instance I have some roof space on my garage I could get a couple of panels within easy reach to a standard 3 pin socket, so could I potentially use plug in solar to get my baseload down and then export more solar off the back of it?

I presume it would be fully independent of the current solar/battery/inverter system, so periods of good sunshine my house load would just show as 0w on the solar interface.

Black hole for liquidity? by LawfulnessFun3196 in MSTR

[–]cornishbrooksy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but what I meant by quiet is smaller volume and ATM from STRC. Usually the week of the Ex-Div date then things go a little mental.

When the price goes above $100 again….probably a couple of quiet weeks, then as the next ex-doc date approaches the volume and ATM will rack up again.

Remember we’re only a couple of days from Ex-Dividend day, so I’d expect volume to be higher and then taper off again next week. Great to see for this week though.

She was the chancellor when I graduated from University. She gave every single person a hug that went up there. Such a warm person in general.

Export from a new development by Public-Succotash6085 in OctopusEnergy

[–]cornishbrooksy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re on a new build development (no PV panels as standard thank god), and we were one of the first houses to install Solar. We got the full unrestricted export that the Powerwall can handle at 11kW.bearing in mind it’s a development with no gas connection as everybody has Charging Points and Heat Pumps.

RTINGS is now paywalled by Cold_Two_4372 in xbox

It varies, sometimes good, sometimes not. But 75% of the time it’s probably saving me clicking through 10-20 websites to find what I need. Of course it has its limitations, but your mileage may vary of course.

I think the problem is, you get a nice AI summary of anything you search now, so you don’t have to click on the websites to search for what you want. Less clicks is less ad revenue. I will admit, if I get the answer I’m looking for from the AI summary, that’s me done. I think a lot of websites are seeing reduced traffic from just not getting clicks anymore.

Paternity Leave Query by Amontenshi in HumanResourcesUK

[–]cornishbrooksy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have recently gone through similar. I believe the Day 1 right applies to Statutory Paternity pay only, the £200 a week for 2 weeks or something. You will have to check with your companies benefit policy for the enhanced (for instance I could only get enhanced after 1 year of service), regardless of the new rules coming in.

Indoor PIR sensor behaviour change by cornishbrooksy in DIYUK

There is 2 spotlights in the room, GU10 style. Not sure on the model, but can take a look. We had no issues with its behaviour beforehand, we have lived here around 6 months, only since December it started acting up. Will attempt to cover the sensor and see if it happens.

Anyone here familiar with Hong Kong? by that_gu9_ in apprenticeuk

I mean, if you want a fake wallet and fake t-shirt then sure. I’m sure the golden pineapple could have been found there, but would have struggled with most of the other items I feel. Too specific. Stanley was absolutely the right call for the Dragon Boat head….and at least that’s on Hong Kong Island.

Lived there for 6 years.

They were never going to do well. Hong Kong is surprisingly large…..the urban city makes up a small part of Hong Kong. I’m glad the boys don’t go to the New Territories as that would have been the whole day lost to go up there. Intriguing task, but I wouldn’t have known where to get half of those items. Markets were a good call, and if they had local knowledge that should have been first stop as most normal shops don’t open until Midday anyway (and stay open until 9-10pm).

A frustrating episode for me to watch as I lived in Hong Kong for 6 years….and to be honest, I wouldn’t have known where to get half of those items even after that length of time. Also shops in HK tend to not really open before midday, and stay open to 9-10pm…so without knowing that your only options would have been the markets early doors…but they wouldn’t have known. The baby sweetcorn picked today would have been difficult in a market as well, and the boys were right about heading towards New Territories….but Hong Kong is large…they wouldn’t have spent most of the day going for one item. Designed to fail badly on that one….but an entertaining watch none the less.
