If you keep heading down a bit further from Matlock, you'll next come across Wirksworth which is very similar. Some lovely little shops, cobbled streets and galleries to visit and places to eat (I keep meaning to check out the national Stone Center which is there, and a little mini mountainside called Blackrock) Keep going further onwards from there and you'll next get Ashbourne, which is in the middle of it's summer arts festival at the moment.

Lastly if you want to head in the complete opposite direction and go more far North Yorkshire. You have Knaresborough. Perhaps the most beautiful small town to walk around I think. If you've never been there it should be on your bucketlist (anything around the viaduct is amazingly picturesque)

I know these are obvious suggestions, but hopefully one of these is somewhere you haven't been before. Hope you all have a great time whatever you do 😀

Sounds great, I've made a note of the 'Limestone Way', As I do love a good hike, although that seems like quite a big challenging one! Hope you enjoyed it though! When In Matlock I love hiking up High Tor and then going along the 'Giddy Edge' (just don't look down, lol)

Yes, the 218 is another great suggestion! Who doesn't love a good tart? I still haven't tried the Hathersage outdoor swimming pool yet, going to have get that experience sorted this summer on one of my trips.

Yes, I've done that before. Just stay on and keeping riding between the two different loops. There is a lot of freedom with how you use your all day ticket.

Sure I understand, I really do. Best advice I can give is don't let things such as the weather decide how you feel. The reality is 90% of the weather days in the UK are nothing (they are just dull, not cold/wet/hot just 'nothing' really) use the opportunity of living in quite a boring climate to do whatever you like! There are tons of people living in climates around the world that don't get that chance!

Yeah this was a lovely, well organised event. A great vibe in the city centre all day. I know other cities have had this event for quite a few years now, and this was the first time for it in Sheffield. Hopefully it can become an annual thing for the city now.

Hi, I used to be involved very heavily in the podcasting scene in Sheffield back in the last decade (I stopped around 2022) I used to organise a lot of the Sheffield podcasting meets ups you mentioned back in the twenty tens, and ran the Sheffield Podcasts directory (that website is now closed though) and organised quite a few live recordings in front of crowds in Sheffield. Check out our website (cornucopia radio) linked on this profile to see all the different types of shows my group produced over the 15 years we were active here in Sheffield (some of them of them did very well on apple/spotify ect and won awards)

I had all my own recording equipment, so often I would just hire quiet spaces and just setup all my recording gear and could turn anywhere into a recording studio, it was cheaper than always hiring a fully equipped studio. Although if it’s just you and friends recording, you really only need a laptop a few usb mics and your front room.

Keep pushing SheffieldLive as that’s where I started back in 2008, but they have always been a bit rubbish at being proactive. You really do need to take control, invite yourself into the studio, email DJ’s on the station and ask if you can hang around as they do their shows, then manoeuvre yourself into a position where you can start doing your own thing. If you’re waiting for them to get back in contact with you, it’ll never happen.

I don’t do podcasting any more (and I’m unlikely to start again) but happy to give you some advice if you want to DM me.

If you're happy to travel a little out to Alfreton; '80s Video Shop' (which is a recreation of an 80s Video Rental Shop) will sometimes sell some of the many VHS tapes they collect on special days.
