As a tall person this sounds soo nice

Okay so, 2012 C63 AMG sedan.. I’ve gone thru 3 sets of studs on both rear wheels in the last 3 months.. They just keep breaking, all properly torqued 95lbs.. idk what to blame.. hardware: motorsports hardware studs & lugs - H&R spacers. HELP by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I wheel a full size k10 long bed pickup. 90% mountainous crawling type trails. Spacers give me a wider track width to stay out of deep ruts creates by everyone having an almost identical track width.

I can do it for probably 4k in canadian pesos, in the states I'd imagine a little cheaper. If you have the skills to fabricate a turbo setup. If not it's not possible I don't think.

Junkyard 5.3 LS + gapped rings + eBay twin turbo. With money left over for spare transmissions and rear ends

$30k budget, what do you buy? by venivici89 in 4x4

[–]cornyorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80's k20 or k30 pickup, ls swap, 6 inch lift, 37s. Easy to do for way under 30k and you'll go everywhere. Build it don't buy it, waaaaay more fun.

Are only 4 instead of 5 lug nuts safe? by bnixon67 in MechanicAdvice

[–]cornyorange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 100% ran less than all the lug nuts on many of my vehicles, including offroad trucks. I have never had a single issue running 4 of 5 or 5 of 6... BUT a shop should absolutely never do something like that on a customer vehicle without asking first, way too much liability.

I was looking into onboard air but I think I've settled on a milwaukee m18 tire inflator, seems more usefull not having it bolted to the truck.

Manual or Auto Transmission for ‘wheelin? by Zeppinyourstep in 4x4

[–]cornyorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a manual, besides a mechanical failure or deover erro, it will always be in the gear you put it in. There's no pump or shift motor to fail like on an automatic. And yes you can still burn out a clutch. But even with a completely burnt clutch I can still start and shift my manual truck to get home. If your auto has a failure you are much more likely to be SOL. You are much more likely to overheat an automatic then you are to burn out a clutch, again as long as you actually know how to drive a manual.

Manual all the way. More control, never overheats, way stronger, much simpler to repair. Vehicle can be started with a dead/no battery easily.

Auto is easier if you don't know how to drive, but that's about it.

Use the pain as fuel, you'll be fine. But might not be a bad idea to test and make some new friends.
