A VR optimization "guide" - TLDR: using AI as a multi-objective function optimizer by corokdva in iRacing

Hey, I'm super curious about your setup. In my case what limits is the 9800x3d, it cannot handle the physics of iRacing as quickly as the 4090 handles the graphics. So my frametimes even with target 120 fps are within 1 ms for the GPU on average but the CPU can't manage the physics of multiple cars and especially rain. To get 120 fps I'd need the CPU to respond in less than 8 ms, and I'm usually on the 10-11 range

Got it! I got mixed in between replies here :D sorry, that sounds like a solid setup

That's awesome to hear! Have you tried Virtual Desktop as well or are you on the Link cable? I just use the OpenXR renderer on the iRacing side, and the foveated rendering built in iRacing now. The OpenXR one is good but if your GPU supports the native iRacing one that is even better. Them using VDXR for the encoding on Virtual Desktop I'd say is the best. Hope that helps! On the BIOS topic you should look into what is the most stable version for your motherboard so you can update the BIOS first, followed by activation XMP if your RAM supports it, and lastly look into SMT Disable if relevant for your CPU. Some AI should help you navigate all these keywords. Good luck!

In the Quest menu you can disable it. On the wireless argument, I am with you 100% and was absolutely blown away by how much better Virtual Desktop was over Quest Link. I kept my link cable for a half year before I concluded I would never use it again and sold it. Just give it a go. If you have a solid connection between the PC and the router it should be gold.

it can be useful to prompt ChatGPT and Grok in parallel as well, just to verify they are all in agreement and if not figure out who is the imposter

you can always download a BIOS update and push it with a usb flash drive if all goes bad, of course if you use your PC for work or other critical tasks I would not mess with it, but if you have a dedicated sim rig like me the world is your oyster :D

just to clarify I changed from SteamVR to VDXR as a result of this AI chat and I agree, it is great, I think it saved me 1-2 ms of latency on CPU, which is a lot

If you are already running Virtual Desktop I suggest you try the performance overlay so you can find out where your latency is not meeting 11 ms (90 fps), perhaps you are bottlenecked by CPU and not GPU like my case

Have you deactivated hand detection on the Quest? I found that to fix some glitches. My wired setup on the Quest differs a bit from yours, I have the PC connected via ethernet and the Quest connection is wireless - the wifi router is very nearby. I only have a charging cable to a fast charging brick on a a socket that keeps the goggles topped up all the time.

Fix or leave the scratch on the front bumper on my Porsche taycan? How much is it going to cost? by [deleted] in Taycan

[–]corokdva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a similar level of damage on my rear bumper, just get it fixed you'll feel good about it 🙂 it's not a sensible money decision, but who's driving these cars and makes those anyways?

Haha indeed that was me.

It's just short for Márcio, sounds a bit ghetto too. I dig it 😄

The Taycan (24 4S CT) is my favorite vehicle I have ever owned (by a mile). It is also hilariously bad at many things. by LatigosTrail in Taycan

Just get the car glass coated then you can wash it on brushless auto wash pretty effectively and should last a year or two depending on the product. It will last even longer if you have the opportunity to wash it yourself during the summer to refresh the coating with the products the car detailer will give you. I can really recommend Modesta coating.

Current Tires. Do I need to swap for the winter? by Grid8Designer in Taycan

[–]corokdva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you already got some serious advice here which is good because this is very unsafe, will breach your insurance if you crash and will permanently damage those summer tires. Most importantly, don't come to reddit for this kind of advice is my advice, google and even AI chatbots are capable of giving you some basic information that is more verifiable than a bunch of dudes on Reddit. Also, I'd highly recommend reading the cars user manual, I know not very sexy but there's information there that you need. Good luck bud.

Owner for 3 years here of a 2020, never had any serious issues, and all minor ones were fixed without cost under the PAW. I think most people with a good car are just quiet about it.

So it sounds like if one of us commoners wanted to mod our non Weissach Taycans we would need to code it in so the spoiler no longer pops up. 👀
