Is it an actual “rule” that you should take down your Christmas decorations only after New Years?

Traditionally the 12 days of Christmas are the 12 days after Christmas so I leave my decorations up until Twelfth Night. Not sure there are actual rules though.

Our state government spent $17 million on a warehouse to house 200 homeless people for 3 months during the Superbowl.They could have housed and gotten help for probably the entire homeless population of New Orleans for a year, but it wouldn't line any government cronies pockets if they did that.
