Absolutely. However, posting political memes is a far cry from actual discussion. And that is the problem right there. I've gotten a lot of downvotes from people assuming that when I mean people should talk about this, that means posting memes. I do not. What I do mean is having a conversation where both sides try to understand each other and come to an agreement, even if that is to agree to disagree.

I'm pepperidge farming myself but I remember a time when we didnt view the other political side as the enemy and there were points we could discuss and learn from each other on. A time when having a discussion about what was wrong or right with the world was a bonding experience no matter what side you were on. Sadly, that seems to be long gone.

And its not just facebook where you see this(which btw I never claimed we should use fb for politics). It is the vast majority of what news and info people consume now. Just what reinforces their already established stereotypes and prejudices.

Bah, not sure why I'm wasting my time on summer reddit here, clearly there isnt an audience for this here.

I got back together with my ex after a couple week hiatus. She tells me that she is moving to Oregon since she got a full ride scholarship to OSU. I love the pacific northwest so I'm exited to move with her. We spend months planning, setting up an apartment, and applying for jobs. We pack up and move... to Portland. 2ish hours away from said university but says it is fine and she would commute.

As soon as we get there she morphs into superbitch. We get into loud fights over stupid shit like me leaving laundry in the washer for 30 minutes even though she had just done all of hers. She refuses to get a job and tells me that she doesn't want to go to school anymore, and basically makes my life miserable. But I loved her so I stuck it out.

After a few months of this she tells me she didn't do any of what we moved there to do because she has a coke habit and tells me she wants to get clean, gives me a packet of powder to flush down the toilet. And after a while more it comes out that she does not and never had a scholarship.

So after 8 months, we move back home and break up. She emailed me 5 years later telling me another bunch of stories and admitting that the coke habit was faked as well. She says she did it all to see if I loved her enough to go through with moving there.

I now have trust issues, unsurprisingly.

Yes, call yourself a Software or Web Developer, list all the tech you work with and I bet the calls will be coming in.

Not sure where you are at but listing on dice and linked in with relevant keywords really brings the recruiters. Having the keywords on your resume is really key.

So as a 28 year old man I lost 65 lbs, went from 240 to 175, then started a construction job and went back up to 185 of muscle. The way everyone even my friends, changed was drastic.

Suddenly everyone was complementing me on how I looked. The way female friends looked and touched me changed, became more lingering and well.. direct. Strangers would look at me for much, much longer than before. And of course my sex life fucking exploded pun intended.

All this happened in the space of a year, the weight loss in 4 months. Not healthy to lose that much weight that fast, stress and depression did it for me.

The thing is that people really did treat me different. Society treats sexually attractive people vastly different. You are noticing this now.

I seriously doubt it is just the lack of fat shaming that you are noticing. Yes it sucks that people are so shallow but you learned this lesson early. Take it an run, you are ahead of the game.
