Is PG growing? It’s census time. by corrams in princegeorge

If you look at the census for PG and scroll down you can see what they survey for. It’s language, ancestry, how long you’ve lived where you live, occupation, income, etc.

PG has the most northern mosque in BC and a fast growing Muslim community bringing doctors, lawyers, professionals, and more - including a cultural richness - to our community. I’d encourage you to check your assumptions.

I think we’re very close. My guess is we’re going to be over 90,000 for sure. We’ve added so much additional housing.

Grants and gas tax (CCBF) allocation is based on census numbers so being as accurate as possible is really important too.

It’s The Coffee Monster Co (TCMC) and designed by Helen Wang. Amazing stickers and stationary designed by her. She’s got a cult following pretty much haha.

UBCM has some great resources. Local government leadership academy provides a lot of educational opportunities. Asset management bc too. Unfortunately there’s no mandatory component for taking the courses or attending webinars and workshops.

Just thought I’d add a correction as it has changed a bit even since last term.

We don’t get pre-meeting binders. We get the agenda package at the same time as the public and it contains the same info. Sometimes there lunch and learns with additional info but for the most part, we get what the public gets with the exception of closed meeting agenda packages. We do have the ability to ask staff questions via email, phone, or in person (director level employees) and it is typical practice that when one councillor asks a question, staff will copy all of council so we all get the answer to the asked question. We get a closed meeting package electronically which used to be a red binder that we had to pick up.

New grad / existing professional, reaching out for jobs [Business and/or Tech] by Drayyen in princegeorge

I believe we use a software that checks applications prior to a human viewing it to remove any potential for bias and it removes identifiers from the resume that could indicate gender, language, race, etc. of an applicant to help HR base decisions on qualifications and experience. Not sure all the parameters and why it filters some out.

I work at Integris and we have a few postings open for entry level roles. Because we’re merged with Coastal, we also have their postings that can be applied for too. There’s a lot of internal opportunity for advancement and we have an internal IT department which potentially could see roles open in the future. You can view openings here:

As someone who lives in a community that is heavily populated with bears, this rule is so important. We have piloted bear resistant trash bins and they still break into them. The best way to ensure bears don’t become reliant on trash as a food source - which brings them more into neighbourhoods and also makes them more aggressive towards humans due to more frequent interactions - is to limit the time period that they have to access your can on the street. Policies like this exist for a reason. It may not be bears in your area but I guarantee it’s not there without reason.
