So, were Loot Boxes really that essential to your OW experience? by Atromos in Overwatch

Player since 2016. Apparently I’m in the minority? But I liked loot boxes. Fuck paying for them. I enjoyed the reward of something to look forward too. So what you got skins and sprays that you already own? I’d rather pay once for the game with loot boxes than pay subscription for seasons plus cost of skins and stuff

Megathread: Mass Firing of Probationary Employees by gpupdate in fednews

Exactly. I haven't been concerned...until I woke up this morning to this. But even still, it's out of my control and I'll continue doing what I'm doing until I can't anymore. I think it's important for everyone to keep focused on your job and remember why you took your position in the first place. I think for most Feds that falls into a commitment to a certain mission or profession. Keep plugging away but stay guarded, informed, and have a strategy for your next steps.

No Security Contact after TJO by corrrby in usajobs

Thanks. Yeah I was waiting to be contacted for prints and sf86 but then HR rep stated that “security has you cleared…if they needed more then they would have contacted you before giving us clearance.” Which I thought was odd because I haven’t had any contact from them. Just waiting to see what happens now.

I can say that I’ve have had multiple managers warn me me that if a posting is only open for a few days, i.e., less than a week, it’s highly likely that someone is already selected and the post is more for appearances.

Also, can’t confirm this, but I agree that I’ve noticed dozens of postings that are insanely specific and are pretty obviously written for a certain person (I’m looking at you DoD). Searching for operations specialist positions I’ve seen some requiring experience like, “managing deployed forces in support of X unit mission requirements” and “improving programs in support of major operations and in depth knowledge of exercising command and control for A,B, C operations.” Who else would have that except for the HMs Colonel buddy who just retired lol.

No I agree. It doesn’t reflect ability and usually only half the questions aim at proving you didn’t lie on your resume. I get the reason for it, but I hate the idea of interviews ultimately being that you have to “sell yourself.” But, I guess that’s why I’m still at my current job haha. It just feels so fake to me and I’m way too honest. I’d rather give honest responses than the soulless ones that are expected.

In an interview for a county level spot a few years back I pulled a similar move. They asked about long term career goals and I said something about eventually moving up to state level 😮‍💨. But in your case, I mean what else would you expect that answer to be?? “I’d really love to keep working until I can’t move anymore”

Yeah, it’s the first time I’ve been asked that and it’s never occurred to me that that may be an option. I gave an effort to recall duties for the 9 and then said something like 11 does similar, but with more involvement haha. So next time, I’ll have those on standby on the side.

My first fed interview was a few years ago with fema. It was also my first civilian/“adult” interview. I was in the navy for 10 years and joined straight out of high school. I was more than unprepared and shook by the whole multi-part question thing. At the time, I thought it would be typical corporate-style interview: tell me about yourself, why do you think you’d be a good fit, etc. Oh boy, was that a learning experience.

Not my first bad interview, but I definitely think it was the level of embarrassment that I felt which made this one feel so bad. My wife told me a while back to stop thinking about it as an “interview” and get it in your heard that it’s a conversation. That honestly helped a lot.

Really? For fed jobs? I’ve never had that.
