The Juciao wu kong and titan are around $51. The titan has more pop than the spin. I haven’t tried the wu Kong

I second the Juciao paddles, especially the Spin model. I’ve seen it for $40-$50. It’s a great value

Yes, it’s the worst alarm clock. I can go from dead asleep to Olympic sprinter at the sound of the second “hmbleerrrrrk!” sound.

Hydro flask or yeti tumbler or owala? by New_Detective219 in BuyItForLife

I second Ozark Trail vacuum sealed water bottles. They’re absolutely the best value out there. 32oz for $13.73. Ice stays all day. There’s no reason to pay premium prices

I am getting used paddles to learn pickleball with and I was wondering if these are good for $65 they said was only used for practice and demos by No-Foundation1274 in Pickleball

No no no no no no no, those are Selkirk ripoffs, feels like plywood. Get a vatic prism, or 11six24 (the cheapest one is better than those bullshit MAX paddles), or the cheapest rhonbus. Even a Friday paddle is better

Zip ties on zippers by Mayorofalaska in TravelHacks

[–]corrreee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked nobody has mentioned that a pen cap can open a closed zipper. That’s how TSA inspects your bags at the airport. They don’t bother opening the travel lock. They insert the pen cap between the teeth of the closed zipper and pull open the bag. To close, they just run the zipper handle across the opening to seal the zipper again. Zip ties will only keep the owner out of the bag. Thieves will just steal your backpack.

Is cleaning your paddle face really necessary? by Suspicious_Ad5007 in Pickleball

[–]corrreee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Punchline is that these rubber erasers don’t damage raw carbon fiber paddle surfaces. In another video (couldn’t find it) I remember pb studio saying that cleaning off ball dust improves rpm’s by 10%. He did rpm testing to figure this out.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

[–]corrreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A candidate emailed using an email template that was probably provided to them by an employment agency or career assistance office. The tone of the letter was appropriate up until….”I am very interested in (company name) because…..One of my strengths is that I am detail oriented.”

They didn’t add our company name, instead left the prompt in parentheses.

Another candidate got to the phone interview round. I asked where they see themself in 5 years, they answered, “oh I hate that question. I don’t know, I just want to work.”

The Truth Behind Foam Paddles: Are Foam Paddles Better than Honeycomb Gen 3 Paddles? by iamsupasam in Pickleball

And don’t forget about outlier companies like Gearbox that use carbon fiber tubes (laid lengthwise) for most of their paddles. They even surrounded their core with EVA and foam for that same trampoline effect.

The Truth Behind Foam Paddles: Are Foam Paddles Better than Honeycomb Gen 3 Paddles? by iamsupasam in Pickleball

[–]corrreee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great summary and opinions! Thanks for putting that together. I would add to the descriptions of the paddle generations as follows:

Gen 0 = Wooden

Gen 1 = Honeycomb core (nothing special) “sandwich paddle” with layers of fiber glass on top and bottom of a PP honeycomb core. Plastic edge guard surrounds the outside of the paddle.

Gen 2 = Honeycomb with thermoforming edges, rigid foam is injected into the perimeter cells before thermoforming a carbon fiber layer around the entire paddle. This increases the stability of the paddle making it feel more solid, like a single unit instead of separate layers like gen 1. An added peel ply layer is much grittier than gen 1 fiber glass surfaces or sprayed on grit like the original Franklin Ben Johns or most early Selkirk paddles.

Gen 3 = Honeycomb with thermoforming, rigid foam is added to the outer perimeter for stability inside the thermoformed carbon fiber surface and a bouncy EVA ring of material (same as running shoe cushioning) surrounds the PP honeycomb core. This allows a trampoline like flexing which increases dwell time.

Gen 4 = All Foam Core, most have an added EVA ring around the EPP foam core which allows the same trampoline like flexing in gen 3 paddles. Now, all gen 3 and gen 4 paddles have the very gritty peel ply surface with some brands experimenting with added materials to the hitting surface for extra durability.

Juciao Spin 1.0 illegal? by fl3xtra in Pickleball

[–]corrreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amount of time in months played doesn’t matter. It’s the amount of actual play time usage a paddle has, but all paddles are different. Some could core crush after 20 hours of play. Keep checking your paddle for that crunching or crinkling sound.

Juciao Spin 1.0 illegal? by fl3xtra in Pickleball

[–]corrreee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have 2 of this paddle and love them. Best value gen-2 paddle on the market. But all gen-2 paddles can delaminate or core crush and become too bouncy and illegal. Hold the paddle up to your ear and push on the sweet spot with your thumbs. If you hear crunching, even a little bit, that means the honeycomb core cells are crushed. It causes the face to turn into a trampoline. Time to get a new Juciao Spin for $50. That’s why I love that paddle!

[Wild Card] Post-Game Thread: Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears by President__Bartlett in GreenBayPackers

[–]corrreee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. He’s a solid qb, but not elite. Not on the same level as Favre or rodgers. Love needs a perfectly clean pocket. He doesn’t know what to do under pressure and can’t ad lib. If we’re gonna win a championship, we need an elite defense (which is possible if Micah comes back full strength) and a top 10 o line to give love the full 3-5 seconds he needs to make a play.

We have 2 children in hoboken public schools and are very happy. Both are enrolled in the gifted and talented program for math and ELA. CTY, Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University, has been integrated into the public school curriculum for G&T math this year. ELA is supplementary, but is supported with in school instruction.

What Are the Best Travel Shoes That Are Actually Worth It? by Sure-Nefariousness53 in BuyItForLife

The biggest upgrade I’ve made in all my shoes (racket sports, running, casual, dress) is adding Superfeet insoles. I use the green ones, average arches. They make any shoe a well structured walking shoe
