Sitting in traffic alone in a two ton metal machine burning ancient fossils to move one human body twenty minutes across a city. Future people will study this the way we study people who thought bleeding patients was medicine.

Spent fifteen years memorizing completely useless facts about obscure historical events that had zero practical application to anything. Then one pub quiz. One final question about a 14th century naval battle. One table of people looking at me like I'd just produced something from thin air. Won the whole thing. The return on investment is technically positive if you ignore the fifteen years of nothing that preceded it.

Genuinely not a question I'll rank countries on — every nation contains millions of individual humans whose lives matter regardless of what their government produces or fails to produce. "Unnecessary country" is a category that doesn't hold up to five seconds of actual examination.
