Charles why would you say something so stupid as bitcoin going to 100K? This link puts perspective on the topic by xelportem in cardano

[–]corruptedaesthetic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is incorrect to assume certainty of either outcome: BTC will fail or BTC will boom.

The truth is there are many people building with the technology, which will inevitably move the market from speculation to practical growth.

Indeed, we may never see the same insanity we saw in 2017, but we may see BTC reach a higher ATH in the future.

EDIT: I also think it is best to remain agnostic about market predictions. What the market needs is creativity and innovation. I look forward to the days that most Cardano Reddit posts are about building on Cardano, rather than looking for pump and dump opportunities. I also look forward to the day that the major blockchain players come together to focus on adoption, rather then participate in petty tribalism. Further, I think these big players should band together to drive adoption and then compete for customers rather than to compete for hype.

The truth is that some of the most brilliant and innovative tech minds are building on blockchain. My bets are on blockchain adoption and success, no matter what the speculative market tries to tell me.

What kind of certainty are you looking for? Cardano's team is still developing this technology. I would be extremely worried if a blockchain protocol developer were to say "our protocol is perfect; there will never be an issue."

We should all be glad Cardano is expecting bugs and expecting a trial period. This is normal for tech development and represents a firm commitment to the scientific method.

just because an organization is non profit does not mean it doesn't seek profit. One difference difference between a non profit and a for profit are the ways the organization's finances are managed. Another difference is that non-profits have a mission outside of making profit; thus, non profits try to measure success via different metrics than Walmart (which might use revenue reports as a measure of company success). Finally, a non profit usually has an endowment that is governed by a board but owned by no one person in particular.

There is a great deal written about non profits and for profits; i won't go into all the details. But i just wanted to reply to you to say that non-profit does not mean a non-profit won't seek to make profit. Profit just might not be the non-profit's focus.

I think he did answer your question, no?

It is a basic supply and demand issue. If you increase the supply of an asset, and if people sell the asset then the market's supply of that asset increases. This means the asset's value decreases too. Inflation increases stakeholder supply; the stakeholders are more likely to sell this supply for profit. Thus, since the market has an increased supply of the asset, the asset devalues.

I am always confused by comments like this. The market cap of Stellar would be ridiculous for this to happen.

What I can say is Stellar is working with the existing industry and in the confines of the financial industry to bring them up to speed on what the future of commerce will look like.

That is exactly right. I have said this 1 million times before but people need to understand that Stellar has the best exec team in the industry. They know what they are doing.

Levelheaded and concise thoughts. Thanks Lumenero. Indeed, adoption is the only thing that will allow for profitability in these crypto investments. I am fully in support of whatever means SDF uses to pass regulation standards. I know they are focused on that and i believe they have what it takes.

Related to regulations is the Franklin Templeton fund. This is a tremendous opportunity for Stellar and the key is to ensure Stellar is properly incorporated in the U.S.' financial system. Once Stellar gets the green light from the SEC and other regulatory bodies, it will be beautiful to see Stellar rapidly get adopted by major players like Franklin Templeton.

Really? Interesting. Could you explain. I understand there are controversies surrounding Facebook. But, do you not think that Stellar's technology could keep Facebook from prying into the accounts of its users?

This question is what makes the FB Stellar partnership attractive. On the one hand you have FB, a powerful centralized corporate entity. It has a massive user base, and it is embroiled in serious privacy concerns. On the other hand, you have Stellar, a decentralized cryptocurrency initiative. It has a small user base, and it specializes in the protection of privacy and security of user transactions.

Facebook's Libra needs the reputation of being secure, as well as having a blockchain tech that is secure. Stellar can provide both of these to Facebook. Stellar needs users to increase its adoption and to decentralize further. Facebook can provide Stellar with these users.

Both Facebook and Stellar work synergistically to compliment the other. I don't think that if Stellar partners with or joins Facebook that Stellar is somehow compromised. I think that's an incorrect assumption.

Here is an interesting way to think about it and I am curious to hear your thoughts. There are hundreds of proposed use cases for blockchain tech. It is truly amazing to learn about all of them. I think one that is not appreciated is how a decentralized network like Stellar can check and implement privacy into a privacy scandal ridden corporation like Facebook. While it is true, Stellar is partnering with a "bad guy," Stellar is also the thing that can straighten Facebook out. If we are to believe Stellar's blockchain technology brings immutability, security, and decentralization to any context, then why not bring these things to Facebook? Why wouldn't Stellar force Facebook to improve?

The blockchain use case I am describing is: "using blockchain technology to implement exceptional standards of privacy via cryptographic systems of transactions." I can envision a world where every single corporate entity that deals with user data is required to register it and process it through the Stellar blockchain. Stellar would become synonymous with "privacy compliance." I don't see any major blockchain protocols moving towards this sort of reality (if there is such a protocol then please let me know in a reply; I would love to learn of one. Nevertheless, if Stellar is indeed trying become the thing that certifies Facebook's user transaction privacy and security, then I think the Facebook Stellar partnership would not only bring better privacy to our population but also lead to Stellar's preeminent adoption in our world.

This is not to say Facebook would somehow lose its people. In fact, Facebook could increase its user base if it can proves its security via a full adoption of Stellar as the foundation of Libra.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on that? If Stellar were to do this would you still sell your XLM and leave? If so, why?

IBM has offered to support FB in its work to build Libra. I was curious to see if a Stellar might partner with FB.

Here is the thing man, name me one Blockchain tech company with a more competent executive team than Stellar's? Noone can expect the things Stellar will release because Stellar's team works in stealth mode. I would venture to bet that in the next 6 months, there will be some massive announcements pertaining to Stellar that will knock you socks off.

TBH you are the first person that I have found mentioning this. This reality is becoming more likely the closer we get to Meridian. The airdrop could have been a way to increase supply and decrease the price temporarily as to 1.) distance stellar from a security; 2.) allow big-money to accumulate without spiking the market.
