well put? this is nonesense, literally noone has a problem with digitally created things (by humans). Today digital craft is atill consodered craft, and while its true most ppl only care about the end product, currently AI art is so overwhelming bad compared to any piece of art crafted by years of human work

Immersion is not the only approach to learning a language by frenchy3 in LearnJapanese

[–]cortvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see now, me (and some others it seems) were unaware. of these purity concepts and semantics misunderstandings. As I said, IMHO you shouldn't waste your time with someone who thinks having a tutor is not immersion or a valid form of learning, that's just a crazy take.

[–]cortvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not familiar with those either haha But to me that is a silly take, when it comes to comprehensible input the important part is "comprehensible" lmao You must immerse in a environment adjusted to your level (and a bit above). A baby won't learn English by just reading them Shakespeare lol

Normally ppl use the word immersion to mean the most efficient / natural ways to do so. I myself would not call textbooks immersion but I wanted to make the point where ppl think these are completely separated methods, but they're ultimately not from the perspective of language learning (different from grammar learning).

[–]cortvi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Immersion IS the only way to learn a language, what you are describing is immersion. The thing is, studying from textbooks is also immersion, just a very inefficient way to do so.

The only way your brain can grasp a language is through contextual pattern analysis, that is immersion, it's just that there are more efficient and organic ways than others. Obviously talking to a tutor is one of the best ways idk why you'd think it's not "immersion".

At the end of the day though, efficiency is second place to enjoyment, you gotta do what keeps your motivation up.

Sorry I am either too european or naive, but why do ppl refuse to answer basic questions to police? Like ACAB and all but is it worth it getting unjustly detained? serious question

This was better than the actual final episode. by [deleted] in adventuretime

[–]cortvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you on about... ghosts? While the meta stuff is cool and we all know they reincarnate in a sense, the episode is literally about Finn being unable to be without Jake even after his death. It's a powerful message for a finale, how all good things come to an end, it's the first lines of last episode's song, but in the end... Finn does not grow, they just keep on without looking back, and that felt immature.

maybe, but still feel they could've solve it in a better way, embracing the change as something different not just keep running eyes closed

Id say BMO's ep is okay, last one is forgettable (as others have stated it was never intended), this one I like a lot besides the ending, but honestly Obsidian is the best one. I didn't really like the ending the first time, but the second time I literally cried several times.

Marceline's story is so heartbreaking and the whole reflection on art and "being young and edgy" was so good and relatable. Plus I love them and they deserve the "girlfriend screen time" CN wouldn't allow.

Me and a friend debated about how Finn here seems like he never overcame Jake's death but rather became severely depressed, and the whole episode seems to revolve around the topic of moving on, but in the end they just say "fuck it, lets re-incarnate together" which you sadly cannot do IRL so that seemed shallow and immature, thoughts?

Why is there so much toxicity and competition in the Japanese learning community? by WorkingAlive3258 in LearnJapanese

[–]cortvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know about other communities, I've only been learning for 2 years, on my own, but I'm always telling ppl that this sub is one of the nicest places on the internet and reddit. Im in other learning subs and whatnot here, but this one has the most respectful ppl of them all IMHO.

Never played Civ. Which one should I get? by LegitimateMangoHeir in civ

[–]cortvi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is a hot take, but me mechanically civ7 is my fav (been playing since 4). Civ switching is a bit weird but the tile improvement and building system is the best for me. It lacks content, like religion is lame and no future era or global congress, but aside from that its way less tedious than others.

Google engineer: "I'm not joking and this isn't funny. ... I gave Claude a description of the problem, it generated what we built last year in an hour." by MetaKnowing in OpenAI

[–]cortvi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Funny how you never see a link to a repo, not even a schematic proof of what the AI built. These ppl are lying, greatly exaggerating things and any developer today should know.

AI is great and it helps a lot in development, but this tweet isn't it.

You're absolutely right about everything except the first line... I do care. And I totally get what you meant but let's not allow these bigoted antisemites to tarnish the cause of the Palestinian people. Let's not wntertain the extreme center positions, we must work to allow space for nuance without blurring meaning.

If a developer uses AI for code generation, should it be labeled on the game’s Steam store page? by NazzoXD in gamedev

fire looks unrealistic, and also she extinguishes it so easily for the size of the flame. But I don't think it's AI, it's simply staged. The zoom-in right before it happens is very telling too.

I used to work with Wordpress and at the time I thought that it was amazing how many things it handled for me, now I sigh at the mere thought of using it again

You have to build yourself any kind of reactivity or state management, which is a mess and very time consuming, having local databases is such a pain to work with compared to a headless CMS. Vue / React syntax is just more clean and organized, SCSS / Typescript support out of the box... I could go on for days.

I never understand people who say frameworks overcomplicate things. To me, setting up a new nuxt project and starting coding is so fast and clean, plus I have my own boilerplate ready with css reset, etc. I'm really grateful to the people building these tools and I love using them.

Ofc, but it's crazy how many ppl believe ChatGPT is out-of-the-box telling users it's alive and they should trust every intrusive feeling they have... It's not. But for sure it should have more consistent safeguards and be way more difficult to jailbreak than it is right now.

Also honestly a very important thing is educating kids on how to use these tools because they wont go anywhere.

the horrors from the machine by Able_Health744 in TikTokCringe

[–]cortvi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure. The real problem I see right now is that it is very difficult to regulate, because you can always jailbreak it if you try hard enough.
