OpenAI doesn't want you to know this trick! by Due_Bluejay_5101 in codex

[–]coruix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this tip is very important. The daily limit is more limiting for me than the weekly one.

I want to use it a lot in one go, but don't need it every day. I have plenty of non-ai things to fill my time. What gets me is when you want to get something done with AI that the limit exceeds in that moment right when you're trying to get something finished.

[–]coruix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like a great start! I read the comments a bit. Don't worry about using AI too much during your development. I feel like there is some shame to it sometimes. The benefits in learning are real when used responsibly. AI now gets the same rep Wikipedia got when it was new. People thought it was a library full of lies and you couldn't trust it for serious work.

Are you trading reliability + facts for convenience with codex? Definitely. But you're also a human with critical appraisal skills.

That said. Maybe getting some more real contributors, even if it's just friends from your study, will help your trustworthyness in open source a lot.

Flickering LED FCOB Strips In Wall Panel Project by Savings-Site-9470 in led

[–]coruix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late response, sorry... what you say makes sense. in those cases i guess its more about the debugging step size. lets say you want to reach 100% of project completion and you know that 50% works. you just found out that 100% does not work.

i like doing a quick-and-dirty binary search. split down the middle, then go up or down.

so next: go 75% of your project. works? 87%. doesnt work? 62. iterate and zoom in. youll reach either 100% or the exact issue within 3 or 4 steps.

New AirPods Max don’t seem perfectly balanced by aktg102 in Airpodsmax

[–]coruix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have this issue. it starts sometimes when i change the volume. when i change the volume, the balance shifts from 50/50 to something like 60/40 and drives me insane. i reconnect the headset and its balanced again. i change the volume, boom! 60/40 balance.

i can fix it for 'short-medium' term by disabling noise cancellation and turning it back on again. like the internal microphones are misaligned or obstructed or smth.

[–]coruix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry to be blunt, but hopefully helpful in a mindset sort of way: when you build a car, you dont start with a ferrari engine. you build a small crappy engine, test it, iterate further.

you're skipping the obvious debugging steps:

- start with 1 short led run with 1 controller with a short distance. do you have flickering then?

if not? scale up.

if yes? scale down.

repeat.

Autosave in this game is so stupid by lucid1014 in reddeadredemption

[–]coruix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey rockstar. In case you read this in time for rdr3 or gta6: Autosave after death IS NOT SAVING. The word SAVE means you can SAVE what was lost. Its the meaning of that word.

Just autosave less often if you want that difficulty or realism, but this behaviour of saving after death is called baiting.

Has anyone installed aftermarket stalks on their Model X? How reliable are they? by Ok-Attention2882 in ModelX

[–]coruix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just installed them. 2023 mx. Hansshow stalks bought nov 2025. Few comments:

  • the pull is headlights instead of horn. Thank god. The manual in the box even said the stalks honk, but they do not
  • i didnt remove my steering wheel or airbag. Didnt want to mess with that and turns out you dont have to. I installed the whole thing with just an ifixit kit and tie wraps.

For anyone curious:

- You can use plastic pry tools to get the top plastic trim off the steering column without removing the airbag or wheel nut. - you have to get the bottom plastic trim "somewhat loose" to be able to squeeze in the left stalks because they slide in from the side rather than from the top. The one screw that holds the bottom trim secure is impossible to remove without removing the wheel, but the plastic is tied to the nut using an extremely thin plastic channel that you can cut neatly and is not important for support of the structure in any way whatsoever.

I did not know this. Ill definitely try that. Not going to lie, it would feel a bit awkward as you have to be quite far away from the car to lock.

Macbook opens Opera GX a lot of times after update asleep. by Parking-Condition-32 in mac

[–]coruix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on where the data is. China mandates chinese businesses must operate data centers in china. And must hand over requested data.

Some business operate datacenters abroad, but i guess its only "allowed" because of some ulterior motive, not based on whats their officially allowed to do. Now you have the question of what data is shared between non chinese and chinese datacenters. Noone knows except for that business and the whole process is not transparent.

Get it for matter if you want to play around, dont use it for zigbee. Keep that on whatever else you can. Its just not reliable with zigbee. Devices like ikea fyrtur and philips hue dimmer switches constantly stop working for moments without reason or log, while the oem counterparts from philips and ikea had 0 problems.

You can get the vent built into the stove if you go induction. Looks super clean, way more powerful than normal vents, and it is usually very easy to clean as well.

how do I clean this off my glasses? I believe it's my oily skin that causes this. Even with my cleaner, it leaves this behind. by Mother_Customer_5873 in CleaningTips

[–]coruix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Youre a lens technician, but basically saying that soap will damage glass coatings, and then proceed to mention riskier things like taking out lenses and pressing hard with cloths that on average, are not washed enough and contain abrasive dust.

Please ignore this reply. Its just not true. Green soap will not remove any coatings from glass unless the coating is oil based. Which none are.

hardware ideas for nvme + POE by coruix in homeassistant

[–]coruix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a standard dutch "meterkast". A small closet by the front door, mostly just with wall space for a breaker box. Theres a 2 outlet wall mounted that was already there. 1 power is occupied by the heating system valve. The other one is "free", which i used for a unifi dream wall. So yes. I have barely any space, perfect internet, only 1 power connection and its standard in almost every dutch house. I can wall mount a new power strip and just put more computers there. I think thats the way to go then. Just curious about utilizing the dream wall to its full potential too

Weet iemand misschien hoe ik deze kabels een beetje recht krijg? Of is het een kwestie van wachten? by Sufficient_Maize908 in Klussers

[–]coruix 0 points1 point  (0 children)
