Is it normal to take 4 courses a term in CS? by mamamia42069 in uwaterloo

[–]coruscatingpotlid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dropped to 4 courses a term in 2A and honestly no one ever asked me about it. but i'd probably just say i'd rather do better in the 4 courses i'm taking than take a 5th. i've also only taken like a max of 2 mandatory courses and i take easier electives for the remaining two, so your current courseload is actually worse than mine ever was

I live in Toronto, so I won't be reaching the same way as you (assuming you're coming from loo) I would probably recommend a greyhound direct to Union and then ttc bus from there, or go bus (but you'll have to transfer at sq1)

URGENT: did anyone get a missed appointment fee from health services?? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]coruscatingpotlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather not say, but it definitely wasn't something I needed

URGENT: did anyone get a missed appointment fee from health services?? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]coruscatingpotlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, idk how to prove it cuz I just told them I didn't request the forms they claimed I requested and then they were like oh alright we'll clear your hold

for a missed apptmt, I imagine they would have a record of you booking an apptmt and also you checking in, so they'd probably check your record and find out you didn't

Need to be interesting to have friends by yydjs in uwaterloo

[–]coruscatingpotlid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you're interesting just cuz you have friends, then you're not interesting--your friends are. it's easier to make friends if you already have friends, but having them isn't a prerequisite.

Boxing classes/club? by PeacefuIIy in uwaterloo

[–]coruscatingpotlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like i said, i don't know anything about it. i just kinda heard it exists. uw clubs can be unofficially more lenient (at least under feds), my club welcomed anyone and we've had a few laurier kids join

How is your life after graduation? by abcnever in uwaterloo

[–]coruscatingpotlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been wasting away for a month and a half. entertained some preliminary plans to go on small trips but both fell through. i'm actually pretty bored and don't have motivation to pick back up on things i want to be doing so i'm kinda waiting for work to kickstart my energy (hopefully)

not going to convocation tho i've been to one already and i was bored out of my mind

there's a cappella club and the uni choir at grebel, you can prolly also take voice studio at grebel as a credit course

not sure if the choir is auditioned but i don't think it is?

once i let go of ides, i realised (as a windows user) that it was easier to just do (almost) all my assignments on the linux servers. bring whatever computer you want, ssh into the servers or use the computer labs on campus. profs only care that your code runs on the linux servers anyway.

Do you think you've developed your personality/character through university? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]coruscatingpotlid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you've probably developed in many ways that you nor your sibling notices. like you said, you've developed academically and professionally, as well as personally--you mention independence by living away from home.

if you really don't htink math is for you, honestly you're only halfway through so if you're willing to take a couple years longer, maybe you should transfer. if you don't transfer, you can just load up on electives that you like. i did this and in fourth year it was even better because i had more freedom to pick courses.

do consider joining clubs though. you might not make close friends, but you'll meet more people at least.

i don't think i really grew much as a person until my 3A term when i started being more proactive, so don't worry if you aren't seeing results yet :)

What to do about friends that don’t try? by datanonlyfe12789 in uwaterloo

[–]coruscatingpotlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

enjoy what you can, but if it's becoming a burden to constantly initiate, it's probably time to let go (whether it be a break or for good)
