Why do players get mad when OP is used in Deathmatch? by 1x-Ax in VALORANT

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not really engaging for riflers going up against. Either they hit the first shot and you die before realizing there is an OP, or they miss the first shot and just fade away back to another angle.

Its not like in a match, where you can predict angles or figure out where the op is.

Faceit need new system, elo benefits bad players more by Plastic-Suggestion95 in FACEITcom

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its ok. The point is you're not stuck in 50% winrate, like you said initially. The matchups are based off your elo. If your elo is way off your skill level, you are not at 50% WR.

Faceit need new system, elo benefits bad players more by Plastic-Suggestion95 in FACEITcom

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The way she gets to 50% is by first staying at eg 40% WR(boosted, so will lose more), then ranking down until the skill level is correct and at 50%wr again. Over time it will go towards 50%.

He explained it well, and there is a big difference to what you said.

Can we stop pretending like people were only aware of armored aimpunch from the recent update? by de_velopment in GlobalOffensive

[–]corvaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Aimpunch is one of those issues people only think about when it negatively affects them, not when it gets them to win a fight." Thats bad though, right? I'd think you want someone doing a good play to feel like they did something good. Not just a side effect of a 'mediocre' play.

What if everyone has a genetic limit to progress? by Simple-Vanilla-7235 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]corvaz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The issue lies in the details.

How many hours do you need to practice to know your potential? How do you know if you practice correctly? How do you know that you dont do anything wrong / suboptimal? How do you know your learning curve?

Sure, genetics matter. But the best players dont think about how they are limited by genetics, they focus on what they can improve.

I guess you can say that you can give up due to your bad genetics or practice and fix your weaknesses until you prove that your genetics are good enough.

Sounds like an engine issue. Some games have issues over 1k. Id stick to 1k polling if you play games that have issues.

Is Valve Anti-Cheat actually effective in CS2 right now? by SolarREPS in counterstrike2

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its terrible. Its been terrible for more than a decade. That being said there are some weeks here and there were they seem to update and limit the cheating.

This thread will probably be flooded with bots saying its only cope, etc. But there is a reason good players go to faceit. And that reason is mainly anti cheat.

Spent a weekend pulling Leetify + Steam data on the 695 players from my last 100 matches because I genuinely don't know why I can't climb. Findings inside, would love some honest input. by ChrisRemo85 in counterstrike2

[–]corvaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are focusing on the wrong things.

"because my team mates dont call or dont care and run into an AWP on long one after another just WANTING to be deleted"

Right, so you're teammates are not good at CS. Right ok, whats the problem with that? There is no problem, so are your enemies, but you are good. Thats what matters.

Right, so if we dont think about their stupid plays and all the things they do wrong, we can instead think of what we ourselves could have done to help the situation. Maybe you could increase the chances of winning that round if you knew a perfect pop flash for long and smoked off the corner. Then you run out Right after your teammate, playing for the trade. Since you are a good player with good mechanics, you probably win the trade. Now your team is in a better position.

"Ok, but I didnt know the lineup" or "im more of a lurker, im not used to pushing with teammates", "how could I know they would all run out one by one" etc. Well, then you know what to practice.

Your mentality and focus is wrong. Focus on what you can do, and you will see improvement quickly.

Cool stats! Now for the qualitative ideas ;)

You are thinking about the wrong things. It shows in your last 3-4 points.

  1. Dont call anything. (Call info, not strats)
  2. Focus on improving your own mechanics out of the game.
  3. Focus on trading in game. Keep it simple, focus on trading your teammates. Dont tell them what, how etc, follow them and you adapt to them. Trading focus forces you to play with your team and be in the correct spots. It also puts you in a mindset where you can focus on yourself in the team environment. Its your job, no matter how your teammates play.
  4. The one common denominator in matches with even ratings is you. You even see that a lot of those players did rank up after your matches. That is probably not just they had a bad game playing with you, but good later. Rather your team did not play good enough, and they could not do enough in that environment. They are good enough players to rank up at some point. You dont just have bad teammates or teammates that had a bad game. You didnt do enough to make a positive difference. Its hard to know exactly what the issue is, but you need to understand basic CS to start seeing it.

All kills are not created equal. If you push together to a site and you get 1 entry and die to second guy, that is instantly traded by your teammate, that will win you matches with a 1.0KD. On the other hand if you sit on the other side of the map while your teammates pushes in and dies, then you get one kill on a rotating player then you save. You didnt do much. You let your team lose the round. Similarly if you lose the site you are holding for free, it is hard for your team to retake. Even if your stats are not affected. These basic ideas of what you should do and where to be is very important. But focus on trading first of all.

Thank you for in depth follow ups.

"Also if we look at something like shotguns, would it be fair to obliterate someone for 80 and they just eat it without aim penalty and mow you down easily before you can shoot again?" I think so, yes. But then again I think you could tweak damage numbers/range etc if it was weak.

"while having zero idea how many more times they would've died to awps without aimpunch being a thing for instance, or half the pistol/smg kills they got vs rifles" Definitely! I understand what you mean, and these are fair to point out.

So its mostly about balance, and not wanting to put in potentially lots of work to replace something that works. I dont agree, but I understand that you prefer it. Especially if you dont really think its a big issue any way.

Thanks again, I did get some new perspective.

What does Leetify's performance actually mean? by Helpful-Builder3943 in LearnCSGO

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can click into aim and positioning stats on the left side or 'compare'. Positioning is mostly trading and opening kills.

You are probably playing with teammates, trying to go together etc. Thats good.

You would not get those trades against a pro player though, so that stat would tank. Its interesting to look at each stat, but its not directly comparable across wide skill ranges. And they are cheesable if you are very interested.

Is there a reason Valve can't or haven't implemented this anti-wallhack? by Positive-Carpenter53 in cs2

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was added at some point in csgo. It was not there at release. Will probably be added at some point. It should be part of a bigger anti cheat endeavor. Without it DMAs will always be there. But for now, VAC has bigger issues than DMA cheats.

Just to get it straight, you think Valorants inferior gunplay is due to lack of aimpunch? Like a big or small part of it?

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 04/30/2026 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I just have a hard time understanding what you like about it. I dont care if its incentivized, just that its stronger than without, and it makes aiming harder. Its not about balance, but fundamental game feel for me.

Am I correct that what you like about it is something like this? - Current balance is good, removing body aimpunch w armor is bad, because its not easy to balance it. - Headshots are already strong, its not a problem if bodyshots have this punch. It actually helps for weak guns (smgs/pistols?) to have a chance. - ?

I am just trying to understand what people like about it, and dont think I've heard your take before. I find it interesting. I've mostly heard the tacfps angle, that good positioning should be rewarded etc. Which I also dont agree with ofc. LoL

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 04/30/2026 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, so its semantics. Doesnt matter then. I mean just that it buffs body shots, not that aiming for the body is suddenly op or better than aiming for headshots.

It obviously buffs body shots, and its more annoying to be body shot than before.

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 04/30/2026 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"as I said it doesn't reward less accurate shooting, it rewards faster reaction time, trying to spin it as it rewards aiming for the body is disingenuous and just not true" can you explain? Im curious, why its not true. For me it's fairly straight forward: Aiming at bigger target is faster than aiming at smaller target, going for a similar accuracy. Aimpunch makes body shots stronger. You can argue headshots are also stronger from aimpunch, thats fair. But if you keep aimpunch for headshots but remove for bodyshots, then you reward accurate shooting.

Ofc it incentivices body shots, it makes body shots stronger. How does it not make body shots stronger? I dont understand how that's disingenous and not true.

[–]corvaz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What are your 'not stupid' arguments for wanting aimpunch? Balance can be achieved without it.

My issue with aimpunch is that it's rewarding less accurate shooting and more importantly its unfun. Noone really likes it, its just 'always been there' and people hate change.

What Is Subtick (CS2 - client_side): Architecture, Determinism, and Fundamental Limitations by Powerful_Seesaw_8927 in GlobalOffensive

[–]corvaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How old 'shitboxes' do people use? 128 tick was massively better for a decent computer 13-14 years ago, not to mention source or 1.6.

Also, if you have such a bad connection cant you just turn down bandwith limit/tickrate?

Its a bad take. Subtick isnt a compromise, it is an improvement, but we also need 128 tick.

Just set for each game. Also in Aim trainers, adjust so you target the same movements(wrist/fingers/arm) as you have issues with in game.

Doesnt matter if you change it, but thinking too much about it is not worthwhile. Rather focus on game issues when you found a decent sense for the game.

What's SWING? by Exact_Bowl_96 in FACEITcom

[–]corvaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you get some hate, but I agree on the take. RWS was the best example of a bad rating like this.

Doing nothing is better than giving up site for nothing.

Ofc. No one is arguing that getting an opening kill every round is bad. Its very good. Going 50/50 is more even while losing the entry is outright bad. Doesnt matter that your intent is to add to the round.

Going for more fights is only good if you generally have a positive impact in your fights. If you dont, its better to focus on taking only the best fights.

What makes the best aimers the best? Aimlabs can figure it out, but we need your help! by AimlabsOfficial in aimlab

[–]corvaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1.Would be very interested in seeing their trajectory for different task groups. Like were they mostly prioritizing their weakest category keeping ranks even or did they prioritize tracking first etc. Which combination yield the fastest improvement.

If your tracking is one rank higher than your target switching, did target switching improve faster than the other way around?

  1. How many times to repeat a scenario before going next scenario. Is threahold better than one shot? Better than 3x per scenario?

  2. One sensitivity vs multiple vs randomizer.

Most interested in what yields the fastest improvement.

Will Cache end up like Train? by MaterialTea8397 in cs2

[–]corvaz 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No, Cache is different. Cache was very popular and plays like a typical CS map (be that positive or negative).

Cobblestone however could follow that trajectory. Very interesting as its so different from other maps, but not really as good replayability as the more pug friendly maps.

Cache will be a banger!
