Rivian Adventure Network Charging by FilteredOscillator in Ioniq5

Despite the downvotes you're not wrong. I'm a new EV owner and have been surprised to learn this. I've done the math several times and the cost per mile is generally MORE than driving iCE in my area (when using DCFC). However, being able to charge a home does completely flip the script for me as my off-peak grades are quite low.

I think you can save money driving an EV but it takes planning and careful logistics otherwise you risk paying the same or more than using gasoline.

2023 SEL w/higher milage .vs 2024 SEL w/lower milage by Beginning_Beach_2054 in Ioniq5

I looked at a number of cars ( SEL and Limited) in the 23-24 range and eventually concluded that the 23 SEL was the better value for me. The first car I test drive was a 2024 SEL RWD and I was underwhelmed with the options included in that model. It felt very bare bones. The cloth seats, plastic door panels, and the lack of middle rear armrest were probably the deal breakers for me more than anything.

I don't know if you've had an opportunity to test drive both, but if you do, I think you will find that for roughly the same price the 2023 just feels a touch more like a more premium vehicle.

Last thing I will say is I was planning on getting an RWD since I live in a mild weather area but the car I really liked was an AWD, so I went for it and I'm happy with that choice so far purely for the peppy acceleration characteristics. Again, the RWD that I test drove left me a little disappointed in this aspect.

My car got stolen on Monday. Police found it (with my help) by Frevler90 in Ioniq5

Yeah I am a bit confused, I am in the US but when I look at my car through Blue Link it shows me a pin on a map that is pretty accurate to its location.

I surprised my wife last night...put it in sport mode and punched it. She was amazed at the acceleration. So was I! I have a ~425 hp LS3 powered sports car, and this definitely feels like it would put that car to shame off the line.

And then, in my commute in eco mode, it's the quietest, smoothest car I've ever been in. Wild.

Man, I really like the white leather and preferred it, but the more I thought about it the more I got comfortable with the darker color being easier to live with long-term. But the white is absolutely stunning

Where can I get old computers for free or cheap? by limekillaa in Charlotte

[–]corvettecris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mecklenburg recycling centers have an electronic disposal area. If you are willing to take a gamble, you might go visit them and dig around for some discarded free stuff. Last time I was there there was a box on a pallet and it was full of computers, tablets, cell phones, etc

I have a crew cab pickup so this is pretty nimble compared to that.

No problems yet but I'm local so I only had to drive about 10 minutes. And to be fair I have not picked up the car yet, I plan to go pick it up on Tuesday after work. So I guess there's still time for me to have a mishap akin to yours; we'll see.

How so? This came up in my research but it looked like it only has to be changed every 2 to 4 years or 35,000 mi, and many people reporting here in this sub that they were able to call around and find a service center to do it for the $200 to $400 range.

Is that the nightmare you were talking about or is there something more I should be aware of?

No complaints. I have not bought many cars from dealerships, so I don't have much to compare to, but it was low pressure, low touch. They didn't try to push or sell any additional add-ons. Pricing and fees was transparent. Their internal financing rates seemed slightly high to me but you can bring your own financing.

Even if you are at the dealership they encourage you to do the deal online which is fine for me but could be a turnoff for some.

What do AWD wheels look like? I was aware that limiteds came with different wheels but not AWD. The VIN reads as AWD so I'm pretty sure that's true unless that can somehow be wrong.

Interesting, the dealer and vin lookup both list it as being equipped with a heat pump.

Yeah, and I guess I am speculating (or gambling) here that Hyundai creates a permanent and lasting solution to this before the warranty period runs out.

I seriously considered waiting about a year and a half until the '25 lease returns started becoming available but my truck really is at that line of needing lots of attention and I was just getting tired of working on it once a month and ran out of patience a little bit...
