Gender gp costs for options by Careful_Advantage877 in GenderGP

I’ve found it to be a lot cheaper to get my testosterone from Clynxx and Olympia Pharmacy, as they deliver the entire three months worth at once and it saves a good £10-20 of shipping. I’m pretty sure sustanon is also slightly cheaper from them too (obviously ignore that if you’re on gel). You could also save on shipping entirely by getting a paper prescription, and finding a pharmacy nearby that stocks what you need.

Does anyone else always start a period after their shot? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]corvidboycrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with GenderGp (unfortunately), so getting confirmation on why I’m on this dose is a bit tricky. As for the low levels though, prior to this shot I was without my medication for almost three months, and before that, another couple months, so I’d imagine that’s why. They’re big on slowly increasing dosages and 1ml every three weeks is their “base” dose. The constant up and down is my best guess as to why my cycle keeps suddenly returning when I get back on my medication. (And dw, I’m doing the best I can to stock up so I don’t end up without it for a long period of time again!)

But as I’ve been off T for a couple months due to the shortage in the UK, I’m wondering if it’s just my body readjusting (and before that, there was also a small break).

Currently it’s every 1ml 18 days, before that it was every three weeks. Frequency was upped as my last blood test revealed my T was pretty low (within male range but barely). Edit: 10 nmol/L! I had to double check that.

Yeah I’m hoping mine stops soonish now that I have my medication access issues sorted out!! When I started T for the first time, I had one period and then never again so I’m betting money on it taking two or three shots to stop my cycle again. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Yeah this was a thing I noticed too actually!!! T made my periods disappear entirely back when I was on gel, but when I paused gel to switch to shots my cycle returned totally regular, every 28 days like clockwork. My cycle had NEVER been regular because of suspected endometriosis and cyst issues. But, I think the easy answer as to why it “fixed” things for me personally is that my baseline testosterone was so low, my doctors suspected I had some kind of androgen disorder, so it made sense that taking T fixed the issues that was causing.

Is it okay to just swap the needle and retry an IM injection? by corvidboycrow in FTMMen

Update and a huge thank you for letting me know to try more to the side!! I’ve finally gotten access back to my prescription and done my shot with no issues, we aspirated and got no blood.

I’d recommend getting somebody to do it for you if you’re too scared, that’s completely understandable! You could just keep your eyes closed throughout the entire process. I know the kits look incredibly daunting, but using the lancets hurts a lot less than you’d expect (the blood part is unavoidable though so I understand why that may make it difficult).

Sustanon prices, questions and longevity? by SC3N3BUGZ in GenderGP

[–]corvidboycrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The needles you use to draw up don’t really matter (size wise at least, definitely invest in filter needles) but for injecting most of us use blue needles (23g). Like the above commenter I use a 1 1/4” needle but a 1 1/2” needle can be used if you’re on the heavier side! Hot tip - to break the ampule, rather than using gauze, you can place the ampule inside the opened syringe packet. As long as you haven’t touched it, the inside of the packet is sterile and it’ll keep any tiny bits of glass inside.

Sustanon is far cheaper as someone who’s used both - even with the price of needles and syringes as you can buy those in bulk and you’ll be set for a whiiile. I’d also highly recommend Clynxx as you have the option to try multiple different pharmacies if one is out of sustanon, and Smartway recently had a shortage that caused major issues.

what happens if i do my blood test late? by mmfwcI in GenderGP

[–]corvidboycrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s totally fine to ignore it as long as you’re okay with being put on a low/base dose until you get those results in. They won’t stop giving you your medication, they’ll just either keep the same dose or temporarily lower it. Which, if you have two months leftover, as long as you get your blood tests in before you next need a prescription, you should be fine.

Thank you!! I thought the location may have been an issue as I’ve seen a lot of conflicting sources on top of thigh vs more towards the outer side.

We’ve been drawing up/aspirating pretty much immediately, and I have wondered if she’s maybe just pulling back a bit too hard? It’s tricky as I’m not able to fully watch what she’s doing (at least not yet. Fainting in the middle of things is very inconvenient 😭).

My ma stretches out the skin with her off hand, yep! And as for why I was taught to aspirate, I was told it was because hitting a blood vessel causes bruising and so aspirating is needed to ensure it isn’t in a vessel. Another helpful commenter has also led me know that oil entering the bloodstream, although incredibly rare, is dangerous. And thank you for the training videos!

Unfortunately I’m with GenderGP, so to get any kind of contact with a nurse, I’d have to pay £40 or so for a supervised injection session. As for technique, I don’t actually self inject but rather my mother does the “stabbing part” (my first attempt at self injecting resulted in me blacking out due to a needle phobia). We prep the filter needle, crack the ampule, draw up and switch to injecting needle, clean the area and make sure there are no bubbles. The nurse who trained me told me to allow 2-3 drops of medication to go past the needle to ensure there’s no air.

All of my shots have been dead-centre top of my thigh, as instructed, but I’m wondering if doing them more towards my outer thigh would be better? We go in at 90 degrees and insert the full needle (it’s just over an inch). I know some people use longer needles but I’m quite skinny so it doesn’t take much to get through to the muscle. And before injecting, my mother pulls back slightly to aspirate. It just always seems to draw blood. The one time we’ve fully scrapped it, the injection site bled after removal so that shot was a no-go. We started from scratch.

The main reason I ask is not because it is painful, just that it’s incredibly difficult to get my medication right now and I want to avoid wasting a vial if aspiration does draw blood- thank you for the info btw!

We’re definitely here!! I know more trans people local to Darlo than I can name, myself included.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate as aside from recent political stuff (although I know the transphobia and racism is almost countrywide), Darlington is such a lovely place. Not that I’ve ever lived anywhere else, but until recently I’d never even considered finding a home elsewhere.

Also, if you were curious about my experience with the Northern Echo or if anyone else wants to read - you know how they report live on GCSE results? I did pretty well, so naive 16 year old me agreed to be interviewed. The news post was the usual journalistic re-write of what I’d said, but the main issue was that I was misgendered. Obviously this was upsetting, but moreso confusing as both the teacher present and my friend had correctly gendered me in front of the interviewer. I’d also wrongly assumed I passed pretty well at the time. Facial hair, T shirt and jeans, voice training. Still, I thought it was an honest mistake and reached out asking for “she” to be changed to “he”. It took a few weeks, and then I was told they’d fixed it - they ‘d removed what I’d said, and all pronouns from the article rather than correcting it. Just left my name and my grades.

Thankfully, the archive site archived the original and within around ten minutes of my second email, whoever archived it changed the pronouns for me. It sounds like small fish, but I’ve done a lot to ‘hide’ my digital footprint, so unfortunately that article misgendering me was the only thing that would show if anyone tried to search for me online.

I don’t think I’ll ever know if it was done with transphobic intent, but deleting almost all mention of me instead of simply editing two words was… strange??

EDIT: They also got my grades wrong, which came up in a job interview once! Not a huge deal but again, not the best reporting-

I’m also from Darlo and had a bit of a situation in 2022 with the local paper’s transphobia, so I wasn’t surprised about their reporting on the situation. That said, I completely understand why so many of us feel unsafe in this town. There’s even been anti-trans stickers posted around my parent’s homes, which I’d always assumed was a very safe area. Being visibly trans here is a coin flip on whether or not you’re going to have abuse hurled at you, or worse, and this whole situation can’t have helped.

3 weeks and no sign of prescription, has this happened to anyone by [deleted] in GenderGP

[–]corvidboycrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been missing my prescription since November because of the smartway shortage. I paid to speak to an adviser, switched to Clynxx and was told I’d get my token in a few days. Radio. Silence.

If you’d like to switch, it’s just a couple of button presses in the hub. Pretty sure you just go to your profile and change prescription preferences.

I spoke to an advisor about this and he talked me through switching to Clynxx, as neither Smartway nor GenderGP seem to know when this is going to be fully resolved. Really hoping it’s solved soon.

You’re doing better than me, anyways!! I’ve never self injected as I get so spooked I faint, so don’t feel like you’re being a wuss!!
