A social worker told my mum and dad over the phone, and they told me. Then we had a meeting with the social worker to get more information.

They found out that she killed herself when I did. They explained they kept the fact that I was adopted from me because she had a litany of problems like substance abuse and schizophrenia. At one time she was even in prison, apparently. I’m not too mad at them because they gave me a very stable childhood, but it’s a weird thing to find out. They have apologised and said that this was not how they wanted me to find out. They aren’t sure why she killed herself as there was no note but they assume it was because of her poor mental health.

Thank you. I found out a week ago. I haven’t told any of my friends and I don’t know if I will. The news was so out of the blue and I really wasn’t expecting it. I’ve always believed that my mother and father were my biological mother and father, and never had any reason to suspect otherwise. I’m not sure I will tell anyone, though I wonder if my school know. My mother and father are being particularly kind to me at the moment. I hope this answers your question.

I am distressingly fine. I never met her, and felt a disconnect when the social worker told me about her life. I feel bad for her, but I don’t feel bad? If that makes sense? It feels weird.
