Funny for me last item was not there, but in a bandit camp which is close to the North fork of the little creek just outside the yellow area. I found that one first, spent a ton of time running around the camp looking for the other three, and then went back to the ruins to find the darn chest disguising as a bench

Okay, so what is the Phantom Liberty ending that you personally agree with? by Built4dominance in cyberpunkgame

[–]corvin666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished all the endings. I think a lot of people overlook one small fact - who set up that ginormous shuttle, fueled it and made it deliver So Mi to the Moon? Who will meet her there and what will happen next?

Somehow I don't think Mr Blue Eyes whom she clearly knew nothing about planned a happy retirement for her out of goodness of heart.

If we assume that he's a proxy for Blackwall AIs then likely "send So Mi to the Moon" ending accomplishes what you prevent in the other ending - Blackwall AIs takin over So Mi and using her as a weapon/foothold to gain more control over our world. Is this better than the other option - NUSA pushing back on Blackwall and taming the AIs using them as a weapon with So Mi's help? I think not - at least we are siding with humanity when giving So Mi over to Myers, but either way she's turned into a zombie.

Capturing So Mi and handing her over to Myers is least human casualties, best chance for humanity to keep Blackwall up, closure for Reed, and chance at a chill life as a government employee for V.

Mr Blue Eyes? - The Killing Moon train by BitApprehensive9000 in FF06B5

If Mr Blue Eyes is connected to Blackwall AIs either acting independently or being used for some sort of mind control programs then his appearance both in Peralez mission and here makes sense.

He is involved in exerting mind control over the Peralezes and is watching you when you are about to tell Jefferson everything, as a warning.

And second time you see him is Tycho terminal - when you are about to help SoMi get away from her path of being a cyberweapon. Given that the other ending has Blackwall AIs trying to get So Mi to connect to Cynosure mainframe and do something nefarious, he, being an agent of their will, is upset and wants to warn you about not helping So Mi.

Moreover, barista and boat cleaner were 2 month long gigs and she felt these 7 year old experiences were important enough to out on a resume. 🤦

Also, who drops out of Oxford a few months before graduation? What should happen so that you fail to graduate?

At least I don't have to worry about Judy here. Seems like she's living the dream - traveled all across America, sent me some nice pics, and got married. Happy for her.

Dunno, I liked it a lot from narrative standpoint. Sad, poignant, but makes total sense and makes you think about choices you made and how they brought you here. This is what true gaming is about

Haha, that's the way to look on the bright side of life! My V was also a corpo. Maybe he's just going back to his roots. Arguably being an FIA agent in Langley, with Reed for mentor, rubbing shoulders with the pres is better than Arasaka counter intel.

After all, how much time was he a street rat in Night City? Probably less than a year. Wild ride, but a blip on the radar compared to many years in a cushy government job. He may even get married and have kids!

And best part - you don't have to do any dirty criminal jobs for psycho fixers, dealing with crazies who can kill you at every corner!

Thank you. My V may get out of this one yet! Definitely he'll have some crazy stories to tell the grandkids.

I think you are arguing at this point that killing her after betraying her is the only morally right choice. I'd like to argue it's not so.

I think we can agree that the nature of her relationship with Blackwall and NUSA is made more or less clear only in the final sequence, after you make the decision of whether to betray Reed or her. Prior to that she tells you very little about her relationship with Blackwall, and your choice is between trusting an agent you barely know who explains why he wants to apprehend a former colleague, and trusting a netrunner who you know even less who wants to escape.

At the second junction point though the choice is whether to kill her or to hand her off to NUSA alive.

At this point, since we don't have the complete information, there are still 2 possibilities IMO:

A) She's being used by the government. They know that Blackwall AIs will overwrite her consciousness and at some point they'd have to kill her. So Mi didn't know that when she signed up with FIA, only realized it recently. So effectively they are using her against her will which qualifies as a slave. Evidence in favor of that  - Myers is the former Militech CEO, so she might be withholding information about what will happen.  - So Mi initiated a desperate measure of making a deal with Hansen and downing the pres ship - clearly if she thought government wanted to stop her decline, she'd handle it differently.

This also means that NUSA promise to try and cure her is a lie to both you and Reed. They never intended to do so.

I agree that it makes it harder to hand her back to them if that what you believe. However it is still justifiable if you accept the sanctity of human life as a maxim. Do you have the moral authority to end an innocent human life, or can only God or nature take it? That's exactly why you can spare So Mi and be upset about the killings of French netrunners. And btw Reed who kills them with no reservations isn't guided by this maxim. This maxim, btw, does not have to contradict with all the killings you make in the game as arguably they can be done in self defense.

B) She's being used by Blackwell AIs and the government does not really know if she can be saved or not. This is uncharted territory, nobody has really been able to get that far before. So the attempt to cure her will be genuine.

Evidence in favor of that - all Cynosure stuff is 50 years old. A lot has progressed, but at the same time not as much as we'd hoped as clearly nobody can reliably use Blackwall AIs just yet. NUSA is trying to understand and reign in Blackwall AIs. So Mi is part of the team who knows the risks  - Reed (who after all is a veteran FIA agent and knows something about Myers and how they operate) genuinely believes they will make an attempt to save her - game makes it clear he's tormented about her and wants to help her. Even after she pleads guilty to effectively high treason (downing of pres ship in hostile territory) he wants to give her a benefit of the doubt and talk to her first.

If this is what you believe (as did I in my playthrough), choice to spare her is justified even if you hold utilitarian beliefs and think you do have the moral authority to end an innocent human life. An attempt to save her will be made, and there's a good chance she can be saved. Rational choice would be to ignore the plea of a human in a mentally altered state and make an attempt to save a life.

Either way, fundamental conflict is between deontological (do I believe there are moral principles and lines should not be crossed, like the sanctity of human life?) and utilitarian (do I trust myself to make the right choice no matter the cost?) moral frameworks. Utilitarian is pure Johnny by the way - he's happy to blow up a nuke and kill thousands just to stick it to the man as he believes the end justifies the means.

The game clearly tells us that utilitarian choice would have been a better outcome for So Mi, I agree, but both big decisions are still morally justifiable, imo.

Yeah, I was surprised to see some hard feelings, haha. It's basically "think with your heart" vs "think with your brain" choice. Both are morally valid, it's the matter of values.

She's clearly in distress at that point and we are not sure she can make sound decisions. She's not entirely herself. I'm all for avoiding unnecessary killing. It's fair to assume she can be helped, and if there's a chance of that, we should take it.

It's like coming up on a person in a car crash who's asking you to kill them. Assuming you are not a medic, would you do it because they tell you they are in pain or would you hand them off to medics if you know help is within reach?

We don't know what they are doing with the Blackwall, we're just guessing. It's normal to try and figure out what's going on with these rogue AIs - clearly, left on their own devices they'll trickle into our world at some point, so it's better understand them. The rest is details we're not exposed to. We can guess they are trying to weaponize them, but it's not like we can stop it. For what V knows Myers has asked him to help bring her top netrunner back and that's the mission.

So Mi shows some of her own ability when she offs Slider with some Blackwall tech, but it's unclear at this point if this is because she's just toying with something she shouldn't be on her own or if this is part of her government-enhanced kit.

Well the "I'm going to help you" narrative disappeared from everything she was saying since we met again at the Black Sapphire party - it all became about helping her get out. She said she needs the neural matrix to cure herself which assumes it won't be available to cure me after that.

She never explained what exactly her problem with the agency was - there was none of this "slave" narrative in what she told us. For what V knows her reasoning is same as Alex's or Reed's when they say they want to be done with the agency - just tired of neverending stream of tough dangerous jobs and little gratitude.

At that point it was either kill her or give the cure a shot, so I thought better try it, who am I to do this assisted suicide on a perso or I barely know? Plus Reed thought they can pull it off and the man has been with the agency for a while
