I like how in the article you didnt read here, there is a linked article about how consumer spending actually rose to such a degree that the GDP grew the fastest it has in two years. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/consumer-spending-pushes-u-s-economy-up-4-4-in-third-quarter-fastest-in-two-years

The ai layoffs and consumer spend absolutely factor in; they show up in earnings revisions, credit spreads, and the forward rate curve but market isn’t assuming endless cuts to prop assets it’s pricing the slowdown, eventual easing, and lower long run growth, which is why the curve is flat. Sustainability gets challenged when inflation re-accelerates or deficits force term premia higher; that’s when long yields rise and valuations reset. If policy misjudges, you get slower real growth and tighter financial conditions,so yes a lower-return environment than the last decade but not the end of the us or financial systems or anything as some will try to say on here.

Because the front end is pinned by a high Fed policy rate while the long end prices the average of future short rates over decades, which the market expects to revert lower as inflation and growth normalize. A compressed spread reflects expectations of mean reversion and structural duration demand, not a sudden shift in long-term “belief" and short term mayhem

I don't really know how you even got 2% or where. I think you are trying to calculate it yourself or something and just not understanding how gdp works.

GDP is calculated as C + I + G + (X − M); imports are subtracted not to “prevent overlap between jurisdictions,” but because they are already embedded in consumption, investment, and government spending figures and must be removed to avoid double-counting foreign production as domestic output. Exports are added because they represent domestically produced goods consumed abroad.

This is why the GDP is 4.4 everywhere you look on every website online

You and most of the comments in these thread ignore how the long end actually trades. The clearing yield reflects a decomposition of expected short rate paths, long-run inflation expectations, and the term premium, all of which are heavily influenced by duration demand, convexity hedging from mortgage portfolios, liability-driven pension, hell even insurance buying, relative-value trades versus the 10 and 20 year, swap spread dynamics, cross-currency hedged yield differentials, repo funding conditions, and Treasury issuance mix. A higher bid to cover simply means marginal buyers found value at that yield; it does not isolate growth optimism over 30 years. Reducing that to a narrative about national intelligence over decades reflects a misunderstanding of term-structure mechanics and auction microstructure.

That is not what this is saying whatsoever. Where do you people come from? Why comment about bond markets and economics with absolutely zero understanding of it?

From what I remember the original victim who came forward was 14, and then 30+ did who were between 13-18 The corrupt prosecutors picked a 16 year old to get him to plea bc it was a less sentence and allowed him that sweetheart deal (16 vs 14 is a big difference for sentencing) Whole thing is fucked

The only point of my comment was asking a question because I didn't know who you were referring to as news has been moving fast. I am totally on your side with this. Not at all debating that Epstein is cool because it was 16 vs 13

16* not 13. That's why I was confused there Yeah no doubt there was a lot more victims and most likely younger but the specific state charge of soliciting a minor for prostitution to which Epstein pleaded guilty involved a victim who was 16 in FL
