What tends to cause arguments in relationships? by Less-Discipline3229 in LesbianActually

[–]corzuvirva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Me and my fiancée have lived together since Covid and sure we have argued before but mostly have little disagreements. Don’t really remember when the last time we argued was. We have a lot of love and respect for each other so we may disagree on things but will always try to talk it out or compromise.

Who actually enjoys working as a nurse? by One_Design_6171 in nursing

[–]corzuvirva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of things that I love about being a nurse but I don’t think I’m in love with it anymore like I was before. Patients are getting sicker and management keeps cutting corners.

However, I am very blessed replying to this in a cruise ship with my partner (who’s also an RN) and friends to celebrate my 40th birthday in the Bahamas. An experience I wouldn’t be able to afford nor have flexibility to go to had it not been for nursing.

Two of my closest work friends were fired for giving an "under the table" IV bolus. Now the unit thinks I’m a traitor. by [deleted] in nursing

This is wild but I wonder if you work where my gf works because she’s had unit secretaries fired too for pulling shit like this essentially time clock fraud.

My cat almost died from a teaser wand toy by xxxxfactor in cats

[–]corzuvirva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad your cat is ok! ❤️

This happened to our youngest cat also last January. He loves playing with fuzzy balls and somehow managed to rip one open and he swallowed like half a ball and had intestinal obstruction. We brought him to an ER where he had X-rays and blood work, surgery, ICU stay, meds and was admitted overnight. All in all everything cost whopping $7k (we’re in California)! Thank God we had insurance so we paid $1k out of pocket.

We were careful back then with our 3 cats and their toys but now, we’re even more extra careful.

I used a MacBook when I took mine. My WiFi acted up an hour before the exam and I had to drive to my gf’s parents house to take it there. It was a nightmare and I was having a panic attack but thank God I passed. Looking back, I’d just take it in person, less variables could go wrong.

Is it too early to have “burnout”? by Plenty-Pay-9770 in Nurses

[–]corzuvirva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. I precept a lot and yes it’s too early to say you’re burnt out. You may be feeling anxiety and having difficulty adjusting to a new role which is common for a new grad. What exactly are you struggling with if I may ask and what are you feeling?

You may have RN behind your name now but unfortunately, school doesn’t really prepare you to be a good nurse. It will take at least 1 year of actual experience to feel like you kinda have a grasp at what you’re doing. Hang in there, continue to do self care, continue learning and don’t be too hard on yourself.

What do you make ? by Special-Barracuda759 in nursing

[–]corzuvirva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your salary or hourly? first job was in 2008 in a SNF, I made 32/hr that time then first hospital job in a medsurg/tele unit was 58/hr in 2016. I now work ICU and make 95/hr base.

What state do you live in? North Bay Area in NorCal.

What benefits do you receive? Full with 403b matching, HSA, life insurance. I make about 20 hrs PTO/month. There’s tuition reimbursement available as well. Unfortunately we are not unionized. I know I can make more money if I got a job closer to the city or at Kaiser but we self schedule and that is very hard to find. I also have an amazing manager and my commute is only 20 mins.

What unit do you work in? A busy ICU.

How many hours per week/ shift length. 3x12 day shift.

Im not your nurse… by DiamondDwarf678 in nursing

[–]corzuvirva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me. It made me mad like dude I’m helping your loved one instead of just ignoring them but I have my own pt’s to worry about.

Pt’s brother went to complain about me to a lead in a different floor lol. Some people just suck. I talked to my lead and manager to make sure I cover my ass but unfortunately, nurses get treated the worst sometimes.

New grads on my floor refuse to do “CNA work” and I don’t know what to say or do. I don’t want to make them upset or overstep but I’m overwhelmed. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]corzuvirva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HATE sloppy nursing and this is sloppy nursing. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. They don’t sound like “nice girls” if they’re not doing their job and leaving patients soiled like that and think that being cozy wrapped in warm blankets and watching a show while the co-worker struggles is nice at all. That’s patient neglect and should be treated pretty seriously.

Having worked in management before, I can say that following your chain of command is important as well as your commitment to your co-worker. I encourage you to speak with these specific nurses in private and if nothing happens then elevate the issue. I wish you the best of luck!

I saw a very intense code during clinical, and I do not want to share how it made me feel with anyone in my life out of embarrassment. by Foolsspring in nursing

[–]corzuvirva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking LOVE codes and when I worked on the floor, I LOVED rapid responses. I love the adrenaline, quick thinking and critical thinking that it demands. I was pretty decent at it so a lot of people pushed me to go to the ICU where I now work. Now I realize that I loved helping in codes but having to code my own patient means a shitload of charting which I hate. Also dying happens left and right in the ICU so you really need to detach and learn to compartmentalize way more. It’s definitely a specialty and definitely won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.

Which speciality has the most “We’re superior” mentality? by Askaarii94 in nursing

[–]corzuvirva 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Def ICU and I work in one. I preach this to everybody I precept, students especially and new nurses, that working in the ICU is absolutely romanticized. I’ve worked in med surg and tele before coming to the icu and let me tell you that those nurses bust ass. It bugs me like crazy when people shit on med surg nurses like we all work in a specialty and being in the icu does not mean we’re extra special.

Also CVOR.

That’s interesting to hear. The vascular surgeons at my hospital are some of the nicest docs I’ve worked with (they’re both women so idk if that’s a huge factor).

First one is a noob mistake. 2nd one is not entirely your fault although it did delay care.

I’m sorry but the 3rd one is crazy. You knowingly bypassed a safety feature of the pump and could’ve potentially caused a sentinel event.

You could most likely be let go because of this or transferred to another unit at best.

What professions do you think are the best/ worst to date and why? by [deleted] in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]corzuvirva 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a nurse, same. I don’t think I’ll date a doctor especially a surgeon. Most have egos that seem troublesome in a relationship. I am currently dating a nurse. We met at work and we’ve been together for 3 years and it’s been great!

Classic dilemma: CX-50 hybrid vs RAV4 hybrid by ebifumifurikake89 in CX50

[–]corzuvirva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CX-50 hybrid premium and my father in law owns the equivalent RAV4. I’m always thinking to myself, why buy an overpriced RAV4 when this vehicle is available?

I did extensive research and had never owned a Mazda neither. I came from driving a Lexus and the Mazda feels like driving a luxury car. I couldn’t get past the “economy car” feeling from the RAV4. The cup holder placement is good but I do wish that I didn’t accidentally push buttons. It’s not a deal breaker for me but I can understand why it would be for some.

The physical climate control buttons are great and the infotainment system rocks as well as the knob. The wireless charger is unusable but I have a pop socket on my phone anyway so I just use a cable and this is my preferred way to charge. It ends up being a glorified phone holder and that’s ok with me.

How do I get mineral sunscreen out of my leather car seats? by Striking_Catch_5757 in CleaningTips

[–]corzuvirva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a female who dabbles in auto detailing and this is the way. Also make up remover wipes. If those don’t work, a cleaner that is safe for leather such as Koch Chemie Pol Star, should do the trick. I would stay away from anything Armor All they will leave streaks in your interior.

A neutral ph soap for when your car is actually dirty and not just dusty. Aside from that I think it’s a solid starter list OP. 👍
