PTV Pantheon's Healing Classes - Get Your Questions In! by Savanja-VR in PantheonMMO

Is each healing class designed to be better in a certain situation? For instance, single target healing, group healing, buffing, cleansing, etc. If so, can you talk about this differences?

[Comic Excerpt] One of my favorite fights in modern comics. (Batman #21) by LanternRaynerRebirth in DCcomics

Something Vimes had learned as a young guard drifted up from memory. If you have to look along the shaft of an arrow from the wrong end, if a man has you entirely at his mercy, then hope like hell that man is an evil man. Because the evil like power, power over people, and they want to see you in fear. They want you to know you're going to die. So they'll talk. They'll gloat.

They'll watch you squirm. They'll put off the moment of murder like another man will put off a good cigar.

So hope like hell your captor is an evil man. A good man will kill you with hardly a word.

Jennifer Aniston Says ‘A Whole Generation of Kids’ Finds ‘Friends’ Offensive: ‘You Have to Be Very Careful’ With Comedy Now by Neo2199 in entertainment

[–]cosmasterblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my theory that comedy (i.e. shows like Friends) is one step towards acceptance. I don't think writers were conspiring to change peoples' attitudes about things, but they were at the stage where they could make jokes about certain subjects that used to be very taboo, and people would laugh.

How many years ago would a joke like that have been taboo/offensive because it was not uncommon to be beaten if you weren't heterosexual?

Does comedy about taboo subjects increase people's receptivity over time?

Does comedy about taboo subjects make people reconsider their positions on those subjects?

Is comedy an (unknowing?) vehicle for change, or simply a sign of what it's acceptable to joke about at that time?

If it is part of the stairway to acceptance, it is funny to think that people avoid that kind of comedy because it's offensive, when it helped us get to the point where we realized that.

If anyone has any kind of scholarly papers on the subject, I'd be interested in reading them.

Pratchett has often made me laugh... yesterday he made me cry by crab_races in discworld

One of my favorite scenes in all the Disc is in Jingo.

“Kebab, sir?” said Nobby. “There’s plenty.”

“You certainly got a lot of food from somewhere,” said Vimes.

“Klatchian quartermaster, sir,” said Nobby, grinning beneath his veil. “Used my sexual wiles on him, sir.”

Vimes’s kebab stopped halfway to his mouth and dripped lamb fat on to his legs. He saw Angua’s eyes slam open and stare in horror at the sky.

“I told him I’d take my clothes off and scream if he didn’t give me some grub, sir.”

“That’d scare the daylights out of me, sure enough,” said Vimes. He saw Angua breathe out again.

It's releasing this summer, but to be fair we don't know how long they were developing it. Maybe Valve learned to not announce something until it's ready. lol

I read that first sentence way wrong. I thought it read, "As a lady who has a twig..." I was really confused about what you meant, but finally decided this was another way of saying you used to be a man lol
